Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
Add me to this party of BBC. Mine is a '68 Custom LWB with a 396, a T400, A/C, PS, PB...yippee ki yay! I was told by the PO that it was ordered this way from the factory so he could pull his 5th wheel trailer with it.

My 72, doesn't have much on there, but excited to know more about it now. Mine is alive (even if it does have electrical gremlins) and went for a drive yesterday with it. Anyone know how to see what rear it is supposed to have on there or just look underneath? Joe Well... Technical difficulties due to user error.... Last edited by Oly72C20; 02-24-2014 at 04:27 AM. |

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
Ok, let's try this again only using my laptop instead of iPad... I found it interesting that there were instructions on how to start the engine right next to it... Of all the years having the truck and riding in the truck as a kid when my great uncle had it, I had never noticed it before. Glad now he was so meticulous about everything and kept it on there. Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
I learn something new about this truck every day.
1971 GMC sierra grande custom camper longhorn(or whatever the hell you call it), 402 BB, tool box, & wood bed. Have yet to find one like mine. Crazy how many different options they had back then. P.S. Find me a matching tailgate and I might buy you a case of beer. |

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
I can't believe we have all of these big blocks and not a SINGLE photo of the 1970 400 valve cover decal. I'll put a pic of mine below again, but please, if you have a picture of a good original that we could use for commissioning a reproduction, please contact me.
We cannot allow the community to continue to use "Invader 400" stickers from the GMC Sprint. We do not drive Chevelles, we drive trucks! Anyhow, here are some pics. The old looking picture is from when it was new. The two people are the original owners (Mr. and Mrs. Klotthor, per the ProtectOPlate), not related to me, but I think their grandson is actually on the board. In the second-last photo you'll see door edge guards; they're really just mylar tape. The photo is a mockup I made to decide if I wanted the guards back on. I don't think I will, but needed to see it to decide.

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
I just bought this '71 Sierra Grande, which, like some, has a callout on the SPID for Cheyenne Super Truck rather than Sierra Grande.
Off the road since 1996, it appears very close to original, with the deviations being a Holley carburetor, headers, aftermarket radio, and later Rally Wheels. I plan to spend about a year returning it to its former glory so it can join my '78 GMC Sierra in the driving stable.l |

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
I've got to find the guys phone number and see if he had the decency to save it from the crusher, but I guy I know about 80 miles from me had a 68 CST that originally had a 396/auto, if I remember right, it was an A/C cab and a shortbox, but it may have been a LWB. He had it in a junk yard, so I know it can be bought if it's still around, and I've got this sweet running 454 that would be just plain awesome in that truck.

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
My spid pic is in my other computer, pic of the truck is my avatar...
Mine was originally a light yellow/white 1971 GMC Sierra Grande C1500 Z84 custom sport truck, 400/400 auto, AC, PS, PB, 1/2 ton long fleet w/leaf springs. The truck is alive and well but the original owner switched out the 400 for a 350 at least 20 years ago, everything else is still there. I had a '70 Chevy C10 long fleet 400/400 auto (that I THINK was all original)back in 1984 if that helps any. But that truck is long gone now

Re: Starting a Registry for BB trucks!
I figure I need to cut around the edges and that bad corner, and slap a cover on the cover. That and they could have done a better job centering this SPID......At any rate, here's another:
