Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
Got the front suspension back on for now. Im doing the steering as well so I can get it back to the shop. I installed the lower column bearing to the original cut column today. and rehung the front sheet metal to get it off the back porch to make the wife happy.

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
some ford king ranch style leather seats would look great in there with that paint.

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
How heavy would you say the bed totally assembled is? And how did you move it? Getting ready to take mine off and move it into the garage so I was just wondering if this is something I could do with the help of one buddy or if I need a few buddies and/or the engine jack. Thanks

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
With the tailgate off and rotted wood, three strong guys or 4 average will do. I use my cherry picker, its a commercial model with extended boom to put it back on.

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
Thanks for the info Orrie. I have a cherry picker that would do the job but my truck is on a slight decline right now and the jack would probably roll down the driveway. Looks like I will be having some buddies over and buying a case of beer this weekend. I have the "bonus" welded in sheetmetal over the stock wood bed option!

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
Thx y'all. I am glad to see it finally looking like I want.
The bed was moved by me and the wife and a few furniture dollies. Its not too heavy. I am able to stand it up all by myself. It is completely assembled minus the bed wood. Also a engine hoist and chains works well too.

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
Thanks guys!
Funny story about that Ogre….I sent a fellow employee to fetch the steel for me. He came back with 1.75 od SQUARE tubing. I assumed he knew that most people use round tubing but we all know what assume means! So to keep to the theme of being on a tight budget I made do with what I had and used the square tubing to make the trans mount/ crossmember.

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
knocking the dust off this thread to show some progress. We modified the seat frame to accept a solid foam base and seat back and POR15 it. Modified the floor cover the clear the Trans. Also started exhaust fabrication and began mocking up the Wilwood pedal assembly. More to come!

Re: Another 1959 Apache build!
Agreed, The seat is going to interior next week hopefully. I plan on using that type of weathered leather. It fits my theme perfectly.
