Re: Silver Dollar
After spraying color I was cleaning my gun. Not sure how but I had apparently splashed thinner on my tailgate. that pissed me off. fixed that and then shot 2 coats of clear, sanded that flat and shot two more coats I then wet sanded for the last time, up to 2500 grit. Got my wife involved Then Buffed, couldn't resist putting in my gauges, or the chrome handle. |

Re: Silver Dollar
Super nice! That silver has me rethinking my color choice for my own project. Great work!
Are you doing all the painting out in the open right there in your garage?

Re: Silver Dollar
I'm not sure you will like it, I heard the color is hard to match if it gets scratched.....I am only 4 hours from you....I can come up and take it off your hands and leave you with my primer ride and you can start all over!!!! Honestly, looks pretty darn sweet!

Beautiful truck. You do great work. It's really cool that your wifes in there helping out. Both of you will be grinning bigger than snot when you get that first ride I bet. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has those little screw ups like your paint thinner splat. Makes me feel normal I have company. LOL. Nice truck.

Re: Silver Dollar
What did you do for power steering hoses? That's something I have to figure out with the LS1 swap in my '72 (someday).

Re: Silver Dollar
Awesome progress! Glad to see your past the paint portion of your build. As far as painting in your garage goes, I have painted several cars on a dirt floor barn. Yep, you will get some dust in your paint, nothing that won't buff out pretty easy. I only painted one in an actual paint booth, man was that nice! The last one I did I used my buddies portable home made booth, it worked pretty good too, just had trouble with my feet sticking to the plastic on the floor. check it out. LINK HERE

Re: Silver Dollar
Question... while looking through your pictures, I noticed your front brake lines exit on the rear side of your front crossmember... I just disassembled my chassis and I know mine exiting on the front... what gives? I think it makes more sense to exit in the rear... just curious why mine may be different.
Thanks... great build... can't wait to see the final product!!! |

Re: Silver Dollar
Have you done anything to correct the engine angle? Like you, I'm using the CPP tubular tranny crossmember and it seems to drop the tranny down way too low. This just doesn't look right, either on mine or on yours.
