Re: The Brown Truck
I spent yesterday getting ready to test fire the motor. I installed a drain plug/temp gauge fitting on the transmission, filled all fluids, checked all hoses, etc. but couldn't get it to start. Turns out that I didn't have the fuel pump installed correctly (which is strange because I've done these a bunch of times). At the end of the day, I managed to get it pumping fuel. We'll see if I can fire her up this week.
Things are moving forward at the body shop, so hopefully there will be some progress soon. |

Re: The Brown Truck
I got the truck fired up for the first time yesterday. Everything went well, with no big surprises. It was good to hear it run again. Hopefully this will make things easier down the line...

Re: The Brown Truck
The excitement is building. The cab should be on the truck within 2 weeks if everything goes well. This whole process has been an exercise in patience.

I'll have some pics on Monday!
Thanks! That's the best compliment I've received so far! There's so much information on the boards, I've learned more than I've ever thought possible. |

Re: The Brown Truck
Your welcome! I really meant it. There really is a ton of info on these sights. Almost anything you can think of to ask, either has been answered or can be answered with a simple post.

Re: The Brown Truck
Here are a couple of progress pics. The BBW conversion is finished, and the cab should be in primer by Monday. We'll see. I was really happy to see the radio hole patched up. I've been kicking myself for years about cutting up the dash, but when I was 18, few things were more important than a stereo.

Re: The Brown Truck
I installed the alternator and a/c compressor today. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The a/c brackets from Vintage Air were easy to install and fit perfectly.

Re: The Brown Truck
Thanks guys. We're getting close. Here are a few more progress pictures. I'd forgotten about the hail storm 10 years ago that left some pretty good dents in the hood and cab. It's hard to tell from these pictures, but the cab had been coated in a self-etching primer at this point.

Re: The Brown Truck
Attention: We have paint!
Here are some pics of the door panels and dash parts that were painted separately. I tried to match the factory colors as best as possible, but they don't seem to match perfectly. I'm not worried about it anyway, as the colors look great to me! |

Re: The Brown Truck
Here are some pics of the white going on the doors and the upper half of the cab. The last shot is with clear, the others are before clear. I wish the pics were better, but they were the best I could do.

Re: The Brown Truck
You have a truck to be proud of, very nice. Could you post some pics of the inside of the cab where the big window conversion was done.

Re: The Brown Truck
What color is that color?
It is the color my truck interior was originally or darned close. I want to do the interior of my 63 that color... Nice build, aren't you glad you "took the plunge"?
