Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
I used paint stripper and a putty knife to get most of it off and then little spots that I missed or were different to get off I used a wire wheel...the stripper takes the black stuff off really easy though compared to using the wire wheel. I can't remember what kind I used, I'll try to remember to get a picture today though.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
I'm sure this is a stupid question but those things are going to take the paint off as well correct?

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Paint stripper will. The black stuff is undercoating, it should be petroleum based. Try mineral spirits or acetone, and get more agressive from there. Once the mineral spirits soften it, use a plastic scraper to avoid scratching the underlying paint too much.

yea, I'm not sure the best way to get rid of it without taking the paint off, but I finally got the power steering figured out so I'll get pictures of it tomorrow.

Well I finally got the power steering done. My camera died while I was trying to take more pictures so I only have a few. The p/s pump fitment was a little tighter than I thought it would be, but it will still work so I'm happy. I also ordered all the parts for my trans lines, gas lines and parts for the trans conversion. Just have to order the shift kit and then I can finally get the trans swapped and put in the truck, and things should finally move faster after that.
For those that want to know, I just used the old p/s lines from the truck...they work fine although they are a little long, but as long as they work and look decent they are fine by me.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Were you able to use the fittings as is or needed to use adapters on the lines?

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
I just swapped to a serpintine belt setup from a 1990 Suburban. From what i can tell the power steering pump looks just like this one. I used the lines from my 87' and everything was the same.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
I was able to use the fittings as is, I don't think they have changed the power steering fittings at least since the 80's, and the pumps are almost exactly the same too.

Well I got some new pictures. I finally got some parts in the mail. So I have everything to run all the lines. I am waiting on a shift kit before I get the transmission swapped, so I'm not sure when that will be, but won't be too long. I also got FI rated hose clamps yesterday so I'm going to get those put on today. Here are some pictures:
Here is what the back of the p/s pump looks like: The fuel rail adapter fitting as well as a straight an fitting: Some clean up on the transmission:

Got the belt on today. Transmission swap parts are coming tomorrow and I ordered a shift kit today so I should have the trans done in two weeks or so.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Should have some info to update after this weekend. Finally getting a chance to go home and work on the truck. Got the transmission back with the shift kit, servo's, and conversion done. Would put it back in the truck, but have decided to go with a 3200 rpm torque converter before it goes back in. So I'll be waiting on that before the trans goes back on.

Re: 1982 C10 swb "SS"
Bolted the trans on without a converter just so it could roll, looks so much better just with a trans sitting there. Should have more work done next weekend.
