Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

Thanks guys. I'm back up at school now and I won't be home until Thanksgiving so I won't be able to work on her for a little over a month. Its killing me not being able to work on it every day. There's so much to do, haha. But hopefully when I'm home for turkey day I can throw the motor and trans in and get some more done. I think I am gonna have to toss out the rear end idea because the one I have in is way shorter then a stock rear end and that is gonna create some issues when it comes to wheels and tires. And if I toss that rear end then I am gonna have to toss the truck arms and my bags so I'm not sure what is gonna happen there. Hopefully I can keep everything and figure out a way to make it work without tearing to much up. Again thanks for the kind words everyone. Back to college life for me, I'll keep everyone updated when I make some progress.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

I'm headed home on Friday for the weekend so I will be able to get some work done on the truck. My dad will be home this weekend so we are gonna try to get a cherry picker and throw the motor and trans in. Saturday I will be at the Goodguys show at the speedway all day drooling over other rides and selling parts with my dad, haha. If anyone else is going to be there let me know, I'd love to meet some board members!!

I had a quick question about my steering column. My column is originally out of a van so we had to shorten the shaft but the neutral safety switch hits the brake pedal housing forcing the steering wheel to be super close to the dash. Is there any way around this? I know that people have put van columns in these trucks before. Some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome, you are a life saver!!!! Thank you so much.

And not sure about where we will be selling parts. Somewhere in the infield swap meet area. Are you bringing any trucks? If so you'll probably see me at your spot drooling and dreaming, haha!! Hope to see you there

Awesome!! My dad's friend has a sweet old Nova that we might be able to take to that reels and wheels event. And if you want we can exchange numbers and I can let you know. I won't be out there till Saturday cause I have class Friday afternoon and won't be home till 5 on Friday. But I can let you know Saturday where we are at.

If you could hook me up with a deal on that housing I would be the happiest guy in the world. We are definitely gonna have to use a different one then what we have now. I was just checking out some of the pictures that I have and it is way shorter then the original housing. I'll shoot you a text so you have my number. And I'm not getting home till about 7 tomorrow and my dad is gonna be at the speedway all day so I'm gonna have a night alone with my truck I'll be at the speedway Saturday tho

Plans for tomorrow night: Go to the parts house and get a heater core, install the heater box, do that mod to the steering column and install the column, fix my brake pedal, and get the motor and trans bolted together. I need a cherry picker, which I don't have, to install the motor and trans so I am gonna have to wait till my dad's friend is home so I can borrow his. Which means another weekend

Thank you for the support. You have a beautiful truck yourself. Idk if I will be driving it by April but if you wanna come by the house and check it out, you are more then welcome But hopefully with the few extensive breaks that I have from school I can jam out some hard core speedy work on this thing. I have most of the parts, just need the time. Good to see another one of these trucks rollin around Mooresville!!!

We'll chat tomorrow about the housing....since it is a 68, it'll be a little more narrow than a 72 (the 72 housings will be 1.5 inches wider than the 68)....but no worries, I see guys use these all the time in their 71-72 builds...gives ya a little more room for wheel backspacing....BTW...you'll need to get 5 lug conversion axles too (due to the width of the housing)....what did ya do with your other housing??

We still have the other housing. It's out of a busch east car so my dad will use it in a car that he builds. But the thing that sucks is that my brakes bolt directly onto the housing that we have so I'm not sure how that's gonna work with a stock housing. The brakes are made to go on a housing like the one I have

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super First Project

Thanks guys. I only had a few hours to work on the truck this weekend. I did manage to get a couple things done tho. I got the gas pedal done, the steering column mod done and installed, motor and trans bolted together, and I got my heater core installed and the box mounted to the firewall. I was to busy working to take any good pictures but I did manage to snap a few cell phone pictures.

Also had a great time at the Good Guys show. Sold a few parts and made a couple bucks to hopefully either get my seat covered or get paint on the inside of my fenders and bottom of my hood. Here are the couple pictures that I took
