That's funny because when he was a little sh*t he'd be in the shop with me like a shadow UNTIL he saw the grinder come out. He was terrified of that thing and would just BOLT into the house until it went quiet again. I still teas him about that - vrooooom!! vroooom!!

Have I mentioned that I hate body work? I'm calling the cab done! Doors, fenders, hood, grille and cowl all need sanded, but very little body work.
I have finally ordered springs (2" and 5"). I also ordered all four ball joints, cab and core support mounts and that cool panhard rod kit from No Limit. I'm also going to get his rear shock re-locate kit.

Same here! Wifey decided it was time to GUT the main bathroom in the house, so the shop is once again a cabinet shop! I orderd up the No Limit rear shock relocate kit today and hope to have all those parts here soon! Maybe I'll have the tile done by then - sheesh! Kidding of course!

More stuff arrived and the boy isn't waiting for me to finish the bathroom! The No Limit stuff is made well. I wasn't super excited about the hardware with grade 2 nuts and washers to go with the grade 8 screws, but no big deal. The chassis mount is not fitting real well but we'll make the tweaks we need to get it right. Think its possible that the LWB is a little different in that area than the SWB? I know the frame is not tweaked but when you bolt the two brackets together and bolt that assembly through the OG rivet holes, the vertical bracket on the side is not square with the frame rail. There should also be a spacer between the cross member and the 90 degree bracket. Overall, I'm impressed and happy with the product though!

Great project. I wish my "helpers" were big enough to contribute like your son. Mine are too young to do much of anything right now.

I have the same problem with the wife adding more home projects to the list and taking away my truck time.

Just read that on the news. Poor old gal is in critical condition. I guess the neighbors could hear her screaming but couldn't get to her. Sad deal.
I'm just out on the State Park Drive. We should hook up sometime! The boy and I would love to eyball that Camaro of yours as well as the pickup. We could use a few pointers on our big block in the big truck as well!

Made some progress. Well, the boy has. I got the sheetrock taped, drawers made and am starting on the fronts. Bla, bla, bla. Sounds like I'm crying, but that bathroom really was NASTY and needed done. Gotta keep Wifey happy too!
I never did get any response from Rob on the No Limit stuff. I posted, PM'd and emailed, but didn't call. I'm sure if I had gotten on the phone they would have helped. We just mounted the side bracket like it should be and welded the cross memeber and lower bracket. I only used about half the fastners sent with the kits. The grade 8 screws are nice but the grade 2 stuff to go with is really bad. I wouldn't put a kid's swing set together with hardware like that. I inquired about the rear sway bar kit, but only heard that "it's in production". I asked when they thought it'd be available but never heard back. I'll buy one when they're ready. I am happy with the parts - enough on that.
Lower control arm cross shafts SUCK! We didn't think twice about tearing them apart so I could relocate the locating hole and clean them up. Actually, the boy tore them down and told me it was a PITA, but it wasn't until we went to reassemble them tonight that I realized what he was talking about. SCOTI posted some help for someone that helped me out too. Once I realized how they actually even work I understood what he was saying and what it takes to put them together right. Those things are tighter than the hubs H-E-double hockey sticks! I never did get the dust seals back in where they are supposed to go. How the heck are you supposed to do that? I also read some business about upgrading to 73-87 down there? What's that all about?

They use a conventional style rubber bushing in the A-arms instead of the older style threaded shaft type like our trucks have.

I am currently converting to coils from leafs on my 69 and spent about 1/2 the day getting my no limit pan hard frame mount to fit like the instruction said. I think that there needs to be some better instructions on this thing. The first thing I did was line the vertical mount over the hole like the instructions said, mark and drill the holes, and I wish I wouldn’t have done that. I had seen several others installed and none lined up, but that is what the instructions said so I did it. Tolerances on the bolt holes are real tight and I didn’t want to Swiss cheese my frame so I had to massage some holes and blot it in 1 bolt at a time using a motorcycle strap to progressively ratchet and align the holes. Don’t align it on the oval in the frame, blot it like you had it use a ratchet strap to pull the mount back as far as you can mark the holes and drill them, you will save yourself allot of frustration.

This system is awesome and I am excited to use it, but it fought me for hours.

Look at this page for good pics on the mount that rob actually installed on his shop truck and you can see the hole dosent line up on his either.

Thanks for the feedback! My issue wasn't with the vertical piece but rather the angled part with the bar mounting holes. My frame is somehow a bit different that most. Rob sent me a "custom" lower bracket, but I had already modified the original one. My vertical bracket does line up with the slot. I'll get some pictures up here soon.
I also used the No Limit rear shock relocate kit and will be getting his rear swaybar when its available.

Also, note that that truck does NOT belong to me, but is scattered over three garages and my sizable shed. It is also displacing my GMC. I love it, but it WILL be finished and it IS going home. So there has been progress! The bathroom is painted and we're finishing up staining the vanity!!! The Boy has the front end pretty much back together but we've got an issue with one of the ball joints. No biggie, just another delay. The biggest setback now is that we picked up a little pickup for him. It wasn't 24 hours and he had it in the shop tearing A-arms apart! He cut a wrap of the front coils and put it back together then talked the Wifey into taking him to the bone yard for some rear blocks. He threw 3 inchers in there. Looks sweet, but there goes my slave labor!!! Here's some before and after pics.

Looks great! I'm kind of an s10 man at heart. Good to gee a motivated kid that doesn't need his hand held to git 'er done! No better feeling than getting a house thing done so you can do what you wanna do!
