Re: Truck names?
My 54, my grandfather started calling it Herschel the day it got pulled from the weeds, no real reason, and it stuck.
And Herschel does this: And these don't have real names, besides the longbed and the stepside. Cant even call em "the 70", theyre both the same year.

Re: Truck names?
Getting ready to start this Pro-touring build in the next month or so and we have name the project ""10 Pass 2"" because while concerning the various elements of the build I was up way past 2am every night for weeks on end... The name said quickly sounds more like 10 past 2 and as such is exactly what we hope to do when we complete with it ;-) ..... There are two trucks shown here as we intend to reproduce elements from the build like the Grill, headlight assembly, Carbon Composite front bumper & Splitter, Carbon Composite Hood with Ram Air and built in filter assembly, rear spoiler and cover, and a some other aspects of the build.....
I'll start a build thread once we get underway gang.... |

Man, 67Anthony. This is a beautiful truck. If she were in California, ya might have to watch for earthquakes.

Re: Truck names?
My old bat is Rocinante and she is definitely female. I once spent 2 years at sea and never encountered a male ship no matter how hard they worked. Anyone who has read "Don Quixote de la Mancha" would know the significance of the name. When I am on the road, my handle is don Quixote. My girls have some trouble with it so they usually stick to "Roci-roci-rocininni-roci-The Truck!"

Re: Truck names?
The build in progress I have named Ariel. There's not really a great story behind the name unfortunately. I just like the name, and my truck has to be a girl. She costs waaayyy too much, can be tempermental, knows just what to do to piss me off, but yet, I can't stay away from her. Sigh, thus is life
I picked the rust bucket of a cab, frame, some body panels up from my boss at the time, I think that was in like 2006 or so, I need to check so I actually know lol. He also had the complete Early Classic 4/6 drop kit with it. I picked up the whole package for $1000, which i thought was an alright price. My orginal plan was to fix the rust, throw her together with all the spare parts I had sittin around from another 68 that I own, and sell it. As I think frequently happnes, I started cutting into her, saw how much work I was having to put into it, and became attached. She has evolved since then into what is going to be a full on build from the ground up. Which at the rate I'm going, should be done by the time I retire. (I'm 27 now....) Lately I've been pretty tuned in on her and making some progess night by night, and I'm really liking it, so I hope to keep up this pace. Plus I know i'm nearing the end of the cab repair, and just knowing that. Keeps me motivated.

Re: Truck names?
magwakeenercew2jh, that name may have to be the one that sticks. I could have renamed mine Rod once, hence the new hood.
RWB-713, my sentiments exactly. The only way mine starts warm or cold is by talking dirty to her. People have always told me it was a superstition until they try to start it. I think these trucks need names. Regardless of their purposes, they have all earned them one way or another. Rocinante has 5 years on me but still hauls more on her back than I can and has been doing so for 16 years now. 25 years for the old farmer the teenaged me paid $750 to una$$.

Don, love the Benjamin Franklin quote in you signature! I've used that one in many arguements as of late.

Re: Truck names?
Thank you kindly. I fear that someday I might be a proud fugitive for merely keeping my old truck!

Re: Truck names?
My dads ex gf, wayyy before I was thought of, started calling it the mickey mouse truck. The big mirrors, when the sun is behind, looks like mickey mouse mirrors. It kinda stuck. To the rest of the family, its called the red truck. It use to be crimson red, until it was baked in the sun for 16 years... |

Re: Truck names?
Chicken truck. It lived it's first 40 years on a chicken farm as the Gopher truck.I call it the "counterfeit Dime."It's a 72 GMC but I put a Chevrolet 67 Front clip on it.There is no visible signs of GMC. it's an imposter.
