That bed is long gone. I have another SWB that I will be selling though.

Re: 68 build...south of DFW

My rollpan showed up but I am still out of town. As soon as I get back I will be moving into my new house so I am guessing it will be another month before I can make some progress. Before I left, I got the drivers side inner wheel well marked up so I can get it moved up. I get that done and I think I will start working on welding up the tailgate.

I dont know if I am going to move the truck over to my new garage or keep it over at the shop....

Re: 68 build...south of DFW

Finaly got moved into my new house and got all my tools moved too. Today I had some extra help so we set the sheetmetal on the truck, loaded it on the trailer and headed home. It will be nice having it here so when I get some free time, I dont have to drive over to the shop to work on it.

Here are a couple of pictures i took today.

Re: 68 build...south of DFW

I got the roll pan welded in today.

The cab is not really mounted on the chassis so it is actually sitting lower than it normally will. It sits on the pinch weld and I really like the way it looks so I am really thinking about doing the PB body drop.

This cab is a lot rougher than I remember. I am going to try and find another one in the near future. If I dont turn anything up, I will go ahead and use it. If anyone is looking for a bed, I have one posted in the For Sale forum.

Re: 68 build...south of DFW

your build looks great!! I was admiring your Porterbuilt rear c notch setup. I really like the bags mounted on the inside of the frame. I must have the old style with the bags on the outside of the frame which does create a tight space with the bigger tires. I will be keeping an eye on your progress.

Re: 68 build...south of DFW

The funniest thing happened today. I have the truck in my new house and the subdivision I am in has an HOA. A lot of the neighbors are older and today when I was welding up my roll pan, I was worrying a little about the noise I was making with the grinder. I was just outside talking to the next door neighbor, Im guessing she is in her upper 60's and I asked if I was being too loud today. She said she didnt notice anything because she was playing her game in the media room. She said she always has the volume up because she like the effect when she is playing Call of Duty. Im really liking my neighbors.

The shocks mount on the inside too. There is a ton of space to to run wide tires.

I am still looking for a cab. I havent had much time latley to get anything done but I am thinking I will finish the bed and if I havent found another cab by then, I will start working on this one. Looking for a cab, I found someone here on the board that is local and has an extended cab that they have started that I am considering getting. It wouldnt take much to extend the frame to make it work, I just need to go and see what kind of shape it is in.

Nice progress. Looks like a good size shop too. I'm wondering where you're gonna find a good cab???
Keep up the good work.

I have actually seen several on craigslist, just need to be home for more than 24 hours to go look at whats out there. I think I have 3 or 4 more weeks of traveling and then I will be back to home everyday.
