Re: The Kraken

I bought a Tig welder two months ago and my welds don't look like that. Maybe someday.

Re: The Kraken

That looks really nice. I plan for the same build, LS/4L60 with MII suspension. Like to see some good pics of the engine mount set-up and steering linkage if you got more. Hows clearance for exhaust with the trans and booster set up

Hahahaha you got that right. Actually I've been burning myself out a bit so by the time I get home I don't even look at the ol computer.
Well I finally got a round to uploading. So we went with a 9 inch posi from Currie with 31 spline axles and discs. Cleaned up the under side of the cab and stuck back on the chassis with new cab mounts. I shortened the column today and modified the 3 spd shift box to work as an auto. I'll get some pics of that up next year some time. LOL

These are not the wheels for Kraken but you get the idea. Great ride height.

Re: The Kraken

Del,
VERY impressive....as usual, ho hum! Ha ha. You're so good and so fast, it's working against you now. We've come to expect miracles overnight.

I don't know if you've covered it before, but what are you typically using to strip the firewall and under the cab? Are we talking wire wheel on an angle grinder? 3M wheel, other?

Do you use Lizardskin, undercoating or paint under there? If paint what do you usually use? Epoxy primer under any of that stuff?

Sorry for the tedious questions.

Re: The Kraken

Thanks Dan, ya start off with various wire wheels the switch to a 3M abbrasive disc. Clean it up with reducer and hit it with a self etching primer. I used some rubberized undercoat from Pep boys on this one, seemed to work great.

Cameron (the owner) stopped by and took some amazing shots. Thought i would share. The guy has some serious skills behind a camera.

Re: The Kraken

Thanks for the info, Del.

Pep Boys stuff from Delmo? Who'da thunk it?! Delmo doing something like the rest of us barbarians, ha ha. Makes me feel better about a few things I've done.

You're right, this guy's got "Delmo welding chops" behind a camera. Great shots. Looking forward to more on this truck.
