Well Blownup now has an electrical problem. It looks like some shotty wiring by the previous owner or mechanic. I am getting real tired of trying to fix other peoples poor decisions. Starting to thing it might be time to part ways with BLOWNUP and start on my 70 swb.

Update time. I figured out the wiring problem, just a bad pigtail for the alternator. Also I have decided to put an adjustable 4link with a 9" under it. The only bad part about that is I put a some money into a 10bolt and only used it for about 200 miles. Hopefully I can sell the Auburn posi unit and make some of my money back. I bought the 9 inch from my bother in-law. Its out of an older Ford pick up truck It is about 3 inches narrow then my 10bolt but I am okay with that. This will allow me to mini tub the truck and get the rear lower. I am ordering parts and doing my home work right now.

Last summer was a thrash to get BLOWN UP running for car shows. I skipped on some little details that I wanted as time and money ran out. So I am starting to take care of the little details. I replaced the air 1.5" air filter and chrome lid with a new 3"K&N filter and filter lids. The original reason with the little air filter is because it was the only thing that wouldn't hit the hood. So I switched out the 1" carb spacer and replaced with it 1/2 inch spacer and a filter base that dropped down around the carb. The reason for the spacer is I installed larger accelerator pumps in my carb for the supercharger and they hit the supercharger case with out the spacer. I also had a home made hodge podge fuel line going to the carb made out of old brake line and rubber hose that I had laying around. I replaced that with some proper braided fuel line. It looks like it has AN fittings but those are actually hoses clamps with look alike covers. I also added a fuel regulator that is hidden down on the frame rail. I did notice that my blower is starting to leak around the snout where it meets the case. So I blower rebuild is in my future. I am also going to be replacing my cast iron water pump with an aluminum one and put in a 160 degree thermostat instead of the 190 to help keep this thing cool.

The 9 inch and 4link conversion is going to have to wait. the TH350 I currently have in the truck looks to be cracked. So I have to replace it, I am going to go with a TH400 on the advice of my transmission builder. I do plan on go up in power on down the road with a larger blower or maybe a turbo set up. I am also starting to lean away from doing a 4link conversion after reading how well Caltracs work on leaf spring set ups. It will be a lot less fabrication and work. I will be ordering the Caltracs after I get the transmission taken care of.

Nice truck! My '85 truck actually came with the two tone paint scheme that you had a picture of. I've only seen a few like it. Makes sense it was only a one year option.

I just dropped off my transmission to be rebuilt. I am having what I though was a th400 rebuild and found out it was a th375. The big difference in the two are the output shafts. The th375 has a th350 out put shaft. SO I will be able to save a few bucks by not having to buy a new yoke. Also go my replacement leaf springs ordered and will be ordering my Caltracs here with my next pay check.

Update time.
I got my transmission back, should be able to hold up to anything I through at it, Raybestos blue clutches, a 4L80E direct drum and sprag. I upgraded my stall converter too, 2900-3200 stall, I got the Jegs XP, My supercharger and old trans ate up the $150 stall I had before. I am going to run some AN lines for my trans cooler lines so I can route them away from the headers a little better. I rebuilt my rear brakes and what a nightmare. The truck came with Heavy Duty Power brakes from the factor so it had the 2.75" brake shoes and 11.15" Drums, it still had the correct drums but all the shoes and hardware where for the smaller 2' brake shoes and 11" Drums. So hopefully the brakes feel a lot better now that everything is the proper size. I switched out my rear leaf springs since the passenger side was sitting an 1" lower than the drivers side. I also installed Caltrac traction bars. Hopefully that helps with the traction issues I have been having. I also relocated the battery to move some weight to the back. I also put in a picture of my new shift knob I made.

Update, I got the truck up on a chassis dyno and made 340hp and 361 ft. lbs. at the rear tires. There is probably more power to be made with some tuning I was pretty conservative with the timing. Wasn't able to make it to the track this season but plan on getting there this spring. Also plan on putting the truck on diet. Fiber glass hood, switch to manual windows, stuff like that.
