Thanks! it's our first, we found out it's a girl few weeks back. Pretty excited, my wife and I both thought for sure it was going to be a boy, but the sonogram doesn't lie. Here's hoping she likes old trucks.

383 with 700R4 transmission. Needs a torque converter lockup kit to be able to run without an ecu. A new torque converter just to make sure it's 100% when it goes back in, it's only got about 10,000 on it since the rebuild, and never been hot. Going to take off the tuned port set up on the motor too many wires and headaches, my brother pretty much parked it for that reason. Going with a carb set up. Should run like a son of a gun, when it gets back in action. It's getting cleaned up and painted Chevy Orange and all the carb parts bolted on. I have a garage full of work in front of me at the moment and now I need some cool weather so I can stand to work out there to get this stuff done. Spending about an hour or two a night trying to make some kind of progress. I'm about ready for some 65-70 degree days. Been a wierd summer for us, but it's time for it to be over. |

I'll look forward to seeing where you take your build soon. I figured I better just get started on mine, me and saving accounts don't work out so well. I've found that just buying the parts and storing them works out better for me. But you gotta be careful with that too, if you change your mind on something you have to resell it. Usually at a loss, and I'm to the point now on my project where I'm not buying anything until I need it. I would love to get this thing done by World of Wheels and get it entered up there, it's not going to be flawless but over the last few years starting to see a lot more trucks up there and I like that trend. My goal is to have it done by the end of the year but that might be a little more wishful thinking at this point. Lot's of honey do's are piling up with a baby on the way, and getting the house ready for winter. Thanks for checking in! more and better pictures coming soon, replacing my crap phone today. |

At the truck nationals. On Sunday, Brad blew a brake hose, he was a bit busy. Just tell anyone over there your handle, it's all good!

We had some chores keeping us busy so only had about an hour to do anything. Got some parts cleaned up in the blaster and the pulleys taken off. Was hoping it would be easy to pull this intake off, but... nope, there are two bolts underneath the runners one on each side. so I have to disassemble the plenum and runners to get the intake off. Didn't get that far last night. Will be cleaning up the block and getting it ready for some Chevy Orange. Going to paint the intake, valve covers, debating on doing the front accessory drive brackets orange also. |

Re: What I can afford, when I can afford it... 70 Chevy LWB
Progress has been slower than I would like, my deadline before the baby gets here is starting to look more like a pipe dream, but a little progress is still progress. Spent most of my Saturday doing regular maintenance to my wife and I's daily drivers, then yard work.
Then I was able to get to work on the project. Needed to get the carb intake installed, wanted that done before I clean the engine and get it ready for paint. My brother talked me out of taking off the headers. Said he had a really good seal on them and if I take them off I'll likely have to fight leaks. So I'm pretty sure, I can get around them with the paint gun. Got the water pump installed and the valve covers sand blasted and ready for paint. Put in an order for some stuff on Summit, and waiting on the water neck so I can make this thing look like a pumpkin. |

Doc says January 7th is the big day. And yes it's our first. It's my wife's parents first grand kid too so they're over the moon excited. I'm ready for the baby to get here, but I don't want to have a bunch of work piled up, just want to be able to help my wife and spend time being a dad. If I have work to get done, I get itchy, probably just going to have to get over that. |
