Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
Awesome! I'll have to keep checking in with you to see how it's going! One tip for you, when you cut out your dash from the truck, leave a 5x5 in square in the middle. It will help to support/fill in the speaker area of the Impala dash. Good luck!

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
I'm going to be watching this also as I think the 59 dash looks great in these trucks.
If I can find one for the right price I may do mine. Kim |

Calling it quits for the day! Very good day though!! Go it cut and located. I'm not going to weld it til I ge the ac. It would be easier to locate without th dash in the way.

Sweet. Makes me want to try and find a dash at the next Pomona swap meet or maybe the L.A. roadster show.

Great work! Looks like you've got it coming together perfectly! What AC unit are you going with?

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
Would like to run a Vintage Air GenII compact but the controls are rheostat for this model not cable. The sure fits are huge and hangs low. I thinking I may have to buy some linear rheostats. Like in the old slot car controls.

A friend of mine put the 59/60 dash in his 55 Sedan, this is what he did with his AC controls.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
nice sub-panel, but since i'm a licensed electrician, it won't pass inspection
should be 4 wire, 2 hots, ground buss and neutral buss this in it's self isn't unsafe, just not code, would have been code pre-1992. the wire feeding the sub-panel looks lighter than the main wire if it's the same size, then your good, if it's smaller this is unsafe, wire should be sized to the breaker feeding it. and the exposed romex on top of the sheetrock is a no-no a short nipple attaching both to the bottom of the panel would have been the way to go but the main reason for this reply is: for future reference and to anyone else doing this there is a breaker that replace 2 standard single breakers to make 4 breaker, 3 circuit, 120/240/120 circuits and at $18 each, would have been a lot cheaper to do.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN
same with 120 circuits, to make 2 separate circuits if your panel is full of breakers
you can replace 1 20 amp breaker with a double 20 amp breaker
