Re: 1972 K20 "Diamond in the Rough"
time for its first bath. made it to the gas pumps and back yesterday. about 30mi. chased a coolant leak for a half hour this morning. seems like every hose clamp was loose after the first time it got fully warmed up.
will update with a clean picture. only downside of living 2 mi out on a gravel road... nothing is clean for long

Re: 1972 K20 "Diamond in the Rough"
So I'm seeing a front steering stabilizer, Got 3 questions for ya, are the brackets for the front cross member home made? stock cross member? and is that a 2" lift kit? Thanks and congrats on a great looking truck!

Re: 1972 K20 "Diamond in the Rough"
Quote:
not sure if the brackets are home made or not, they were on the truck when i bought it. if you havent seen that style before they may be home made. this truck was built in the 90s originly by a guy who used to lift trucks and put big blocks in them. it had all the chrome you see now, plus a set of chrome custom made traction bars. so i wouldnt be suprised if the stabilizer mounts are home made too. and by crossmember do you mean the front tierod? i couldnt tell you on that either, not sure what a stock one should look like. i can take more pictures. the lift is a 4" with 35" tires. front springs are ranchos from back in the day and the rears are tuff country i think? somthing like that, had broken stock springs and blocks/traction bars originally so i just went with lift springs from summit thanks for the comments everyone. ive got 80 miles on it now. i cant believe how much this truck has changed. the overdrive make this trucks driveability 1000x better. atill have alot of little things to finish up, but i needed to get some seat time before they start putting the deicer on the roads

Re: 1972 K20 "Diamond in the Rough"
thanks for the compliments guys. ive been tinkering on this still. its not 100% yet. still have to hook up the ac this winter and some other small stuff. its been a blast to drive. put 800 miles on it already. i just cant quit driving it instead of my daily!
my next project....not sure. currently have alot of things open. need to finish some things. im horrible about starting 100 things and working on them all at once. the next one that is going to get finished is a sandrail that currently has a VW bug 1835cc engine and a bus 091 trans, it is getting a GM 3800SC, long travel suspention, and whatever else is necessary! and for the vehicles you guys care about.... im currently looking for a suburban. doesnt have to be pretty. i would like to make my ramp truck a whole hell of a lot more useful, so im playing with the idea of a crew cab... strech the bed a few ft so it will comfortably haul a fullsize car, modern drivetrain duramax maybe? would also like to bag it and lay the ramp body right on the ground so no ramps are needed, or maybe just short ones. its all a dream at this point in time. i guess it all depends on the parts i can aquire. if nothing else i scored a clean cab for the ramp truck so i can redo it as it is. but id rather put my own spin on it. some recent pictures during my stereo install and msc.
