Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
I had to replace for the second time, the driver side bed patch panel to a larger patch. Almost a 40 inch weld up in length. This bedside is killing me, spent more time on this side than the whole truck.
Also welded up the RV mirror holes in the doors. |

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
Also got my Valspar paint, 1969 503 Light Green and my wire harness. I plan on painting it myself. Lets see how that works out.

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
Thanks I appreciate that. Im working with a welder with no gas attachment. I hear gas gives you a better weld, but until I use one I wont know the difference. Im trying and this is trial and error on welding. |

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
Hi Vdog - good to see you are building.... on both! You need to separate these builds lol ---- so we can see everything you do!
So why the name "Slant Nose" on the step side truck? I used to build (steel) slant nose Porsches when they were the big deal back in the 90's ... thats the only time I have heard that term referenced for car customizing. Im doing a sort of slant-nose custom on my '57 truck... Im going to adapt a 58-59 hood with the 'slanted look' on my build. Build(S) are both looking good!

I was going to start a new build thread when I backed off the black truck and went to the green one, but got lazy. Slant nose came from a member on the board when I was looking for a name. 67-68 have slant noses for a hood, thus the name. |

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
Once you start painting it you will ask yourself Why didn't i do this sooner. Thank of all the $$$$ you are going to save doing it yourself. Trucks looking good, keep the pics coming. You know us truck people aren't big on words just post alot of pics, we'll figure it out.

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
This is what the completed driver side patch looks like now. Also lining up the doors and fenders and marking the spots for disassembly and paint.

Re: Project-GMC Slant Nose
GR8 JOB ON THE quarter panel wheel well patch panel. Vdog. I think I will need some help from you when I tackle the same issue with my '87 Sub. The body shop boogered it up pretty bad.
