I would also use a cutting compound and a high speed buffer to finalize your finish.

looks good.... this stuff is labour intensive lol, I left mine at 3 coats... wet sand and hit it with some scotch brite.. good enough for me!

Sounds interesting the way you do yours slingingrods. I hear alot of people use the inexspensive harbor freight guns with great success. By chance do you have pics of the 2 stage jobs you have done? My 74 is silver 2 stage and I am wanting to redo it myself in the same 2 stage type paint, and same color. Hood is flaking off clearcoat and other areas are starting to flake as well. Thanks.

Coat 9 is on, had to push it in the garage since it was raining all day. Gonna do 10 in the morning and she'll be done! Should I put the back window and doors back on tomorrow or wet sand everything while it's still off the truck next weekend?

I think I want to try this now but inside my cab
My cab inside is yellow, I want to a custom inside maybe like green and white, maybe have the inside
Done in white, you think it will get dirty quick?

Judging from that one close up shot earlier, as rough as that paint looked, 2,000 paper wouldn't even put a dent in that.

Unless this thing turned out nearly glass smooth with one of your recent coats, (again going off that last close up pic) I'd start with 1,000 to make quick work of it, then work your way up to 1500, and finish with 2,000,,,,then rubbing compound and buffer.

You'll be sanding for a month if you just start with 2,000

It's just paint, it'll stay as clean as you keep it I guess.

Haha! I tried to get out tonight, but I gotta go in tomorrow for like and hour then head home. Just a 4hr drive back to Knoxville though, I'll get started back tomorrow evening. Probably best though, had I been home I wouldn't have been able to keep my hands off, at least the paint has had a week to cure.

The bottom is going be done in black bedliner. I do plan to use it off road, figured it'd protect better.

No pic updates but it's looking nice. I hit it with rubbing compound and a polisher, someone more expirenced at sanding could make it look real nice, mine's about a 5 footer before little things in the paint can be seen. I had a really messed up issue with my credit card (no fault of my own) and won't have my new one til tomorrow. I'm going to 2nd day air a bunch of parts I need to put it all back together. I did already order the dash, should be here Wednesday.

Edit:
Also had a very weird issue with my battery, apparently the same ground I had been using forever decided it wasn't to rust and the truck was having issues starting. I had to sand down the ground and sure enough fired right up. I'm also having issues with the cigarette lighter, I don't know if my unit is shorting out or it's not being grounded but as soon as I touch the connector to the back it pops the fuse.

a 5 footer? dang. i would be happy with a 20 footer. i have an 80 footer now ha. but im only 21 and with long trips with a couple dirtbikes in the bed and my other hobbies, a 5 footer would turn into a 20 footer pretty quick

Haha! I feel you, 25 and recently divorced ( I went from a 427 C5 to this -_- but I love it anways). I'm sure I'll get my share of scratches, I use it to haul kayaks to the river when me and my buddies fish.
