Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
ok its getting closer,
got bed on truck, fuel cell is in, lines run to fuel filter and return line. battery mounted in bed and cables hooked up. Airpod mounted in bed and air lines ran to all four air bags, and level controllers wired to each corner. started on front clip, when i did the truck 6 years ago i took out the original core support because it hit the 79 c-10 steering box. now that i am adding vintage air and i have rack and pinion steering, i need to put an original core support back in the truck so all the a/c stuff fits. went out to the storage building and had one left, drilled it per vintage air instructions and now need warm enough day to paint it before mounting everything. it is in 30's this week, not good for painting parts

and i am mounting the ECM under the seat and i mounted the current performance fuse block behind the seat, so if i need to get to fuses, i can lean seat up and still see fuses.
and still need to solder all connections shown in my rats nest of wires

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
well got the radiator and fans in. it was tight fit, but the mounting system flex-lite uses worked really good. allowed me to adjust to where it fit the best.
and started installing the evaporator from the vintage air kit. wow does that thing ever take up every inch of space under the dash. will get some pictures after the install.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
ITS ALIVE, tuner came on sunday and it fired to live after about two turns.
had a bunch of codes to turn off, but fired right up and after warmed up dropped idle down and purred like a kitten. it scared me on friday night i cranked with fuses out and no oil pressure, i mean no pressure, even swapped out to mechanical gauge, and no pressure still. but on sunday on second try with fuses out oil pressure came right up. will post more pictures tonight when i get home.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
ok im going to take a minute to cover the vintage air unit for the 55 to 59 trucks.
on the defrost ducts, the instructions tell you to put the duct hose on the defrost ducts last. WRONG, install them on the duct and put in dash already together. big pain trying to put round hose on square duct under 6" wide dash. i also added wire tie just cause i could.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
next i want to go over the rigid flaring tool.
now since i had fuel injection lines to make, i bought rigid model 377. this thing cost $90.00 but i have to say it makes an awesome 37 degree flare. and it keeps you from over tightening the tool by disengaging at the desired depth. yes it is a expensive tool. but i have no leaks on my truck

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
ok,
the short to do list. A/C fittings arrive on thursday so i can make hoses and have them crimped on monday. install A/C back in dash after that. Align front end. hopefully local shop will help with that. Charge A/C after truck is driveable. paint truck. "black again" ha ha drive to Texas.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
do you ever have one of those days?
well monday i took the truck to the frontend alignment shop to get it all checked out. and they couldn't fit the tools to the wheel because the fenders hung over the wheels to much. so loading it back up on the trailer, it pulled to far forward and bam, oil pan and winch meet. guess which one won. so this is a picture of tuesday evening after the pan came out. well now i can get the front end aligned with the fenders out of the way.

my mom always told me cry and you will cry alone, laugh and the whole world will laugh with you.
this is my attempt at the second part. the reassembly process is going slow. but on the upside i know where all bolts go since this is about third time i have done it.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
Can you post up some details on how you did your fuel lines, how much hard line did you run and which components did you use to transition? I'd prefer hard lines, but I've heard a lot of good things about nylon ones.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2
my fuel lines are mostly hard line.
now adapting to the factory line is used Russell 644123 and 644113 and the only flex line i have is i bought some of the premade flex lines. just did it for time thing, could have made some cheaper but not faster pay no attention to the black spray paint on the red fittings, not factory, custom touches added by me. let me know if you have any other questions

Great looking stuff. How bad was the pan damaged? Is it something that can be repaired?
