Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
Well made some progress upfront.....Built a new support for the front of the box....with enough clearnace for the driveshaft I don't have yet . Did the math don't have the drive shaft and you know how that works out sometimes.....

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
The front section of the box will open up as well.....hinged to the front....There is no empty space in this thing i am not trying to cram something into. So under the front will be ...a gas tank,2 or 3 batteries, air tank, air pump, and air mangement system. It's tight under there but I think I can get it to fit.....

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
You'll get it all squeezed in. Shoe horn, hammer and a little spit will get things to fit.
Portland swap meet????? Thats were I picked up the white and gray '67 Camaros 20+ yrs ago. The "Fall meet" (the little one). You have a booth or walk around??? Really dig the floor work man! Last edited by Bomp; 02-01-2013 at 01:39 PM. |

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
Finished the rough in for the floor......it turned out really well and I really like it. Just have to make a few small add ons and make things a little bit more fancy...lol..
I guess the big news for me is i made the choice for engine and tranny last night. I have been dealing on a complete package thats going to be the wildest thing i have placed into one of my builds and it all came together last night. I should pick it up tuesday and I am both scared and pumped....this year i really want to up my game....

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
This was a fricken nightmare.....I broke my number one rule for loading the trailer. I always load engine to the front...howeverwith the front being hammered ( a 3 wheel caddy )we went wih he easy way which was backwards....first thing that happened was my winch shorted out after it was on 3/4 of the way......that was ugly..so we used a forklift and frankly the tow was only maybe 10 miles max. Well it wasn't heavy enough on the front of the trailer and it towed reallllllly bad lol. It was all over the road but hey i made it home slowly...and attacked the front of it stripping out my new Engine.....It's a beast and I am pumped

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
After a couple of hours of peeling back all the steel that was hammered .....This is what is sitting in the rails . By the way I have never seen so much aluminum construction on the front end of a car before......it's everywhere and it's all broken.... lost the altenator bracket and the altenator so far so good.

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
Still working on getting the engine and tranny out and i am sure it's going to be a challenge. I think the plan is winch it onto the hoist and drop what we can from the bottom and see how it rolls. I will be looking online today to see how they do it at the dealers....The harness is free now.....ECM is out....it's pretty much down to engine and tranny bolts...We had 3 of us on it for a couple of hours to get it to that

Re: 1966 SBFS project low and go
Firstly, I have pulled an engine from a front end collision car before, and what I did not realize at the time, until I got it all the way home and started prepping it for installation, was that some of the key bolt points were either gone or cracked beyond use.
Particularly the bottom d-side transmission bell housing bolt hole, which was totally gone, and one of the two (it was a OHC6 motor) engine mount bolt holes was cracked and basically useless. Hopefully you dont run into any of that !! Otherwise I am pretty envious of that power pack you are getting for your build Second, are there any photos of the car in the background? The one with what looks like "Hot Rod Patrol" on it?
