Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Since you will have the engine apart, seems like a good time for twins and maybe a p-pump...

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
At least with the engine no-one gets hurt. I always fear that I forgot to tighten a bolt that holds the steering or suspension together and it will fall out going down the road at 70.....that wouldn't be good.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Yeah, true. I rechecked my axle u bolts and spring hanger bolts, hub bolts, ball joints, tie rods and all that for the same reason. Dang the luck.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
The big ol Ex is running once again. I checked the drain plug and a lot of everything else because I'm paranoid now. Last Thursday I broke the cam in and everything was good, no leaks etc. The only thing odd is it had a slight belt squeal noise but I think it was a tone ring tach interference issue. It wasn't the tone ring or sensor, I think it's just the dang belt. I've put 160 miles on it and it's doing good. I have a coolant leak to address at some point. It's leaking a slight bit from a weld on my lower coolant tube. I'm going to have to put a new ring and pinion in the rear axle as my used one has a whining noise that is annoying.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
I'm still trying to get used to the sound of it and figure out where it likes the timing the best. It works pretty good so far. Yep, it's a rotary or VE bosch pump. The 94-98's are P-pump in line bosch pumps.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Good catch there 56 6BT. I missed that until you mentioned it. So Ryan is it a IC or NIC VE pump? I have a spare NIC pump that I was going to try and get rid of it but I might hang on to it if you tell me it's worth hanging on to in case my VP takes a dump. Oh yeah, Nice Build.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Good to hear it runs well. Man its heavy ! I have the same fuel pin and gsk for mine . Still find them very ineffective in the glovebox . I bet they will help by putting them in the pump when the , if the weather ever changes . Watching it rain now . Better than snow i guess. Now for a month of the dogs living in the mud room .

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Yeah, I bet they are pretty non helpful in the glove box. If the mileage is decent I may turn the fuel up some more to help the 62/71 along. Haha

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
No need to look or feel stupid. That is just the size of the compressor wheel and turbine wheel in the turbo. The compressor is 62mm at biggest point, the turbine wheel is 71mm at the largest point, and the turbine or exhaust housing is a 14. Which means it will flow 14cm2 through it. Typically you will see after market chargers listed in 3 number groupings typically. The turbo on this thing is 62/71/14.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile
Today the rear end started making a thumping noise, so it is time to replace my apparently not so great ring and pinion for a new one. Hopefully the parts should be here Friday. Last night I put mud flaps on it and a steering stabilizer. While we're doing the rear end, I'm going to go ahead and put on a rear sway bar to help with body roll. She definitely sways a bit during fast lane changes at 70mph or so.

Holy kick in the stones, Batman!! Man, that sucks. Glad you got it fixed up quick. I've been absent from this thread for a bit, but for some reason I thought you had this running a while back or at least were a whole lot closer than you actually were. I don't miss gelled diesel......ugh.

the inducer is the inlet side of of the wheel, regardless of its orientation. the exducer is the outlet side of the wheel. so, in a turbocharger, the inducer side of the compressor is the side that you see when you look down its throat. the exducer side of the compressor is the big side that is at the back of the compressor housing. the exducer of the turbine wheel is the small side, or the one you see when you look up the turbos butt. the inducer is the big side of that wheel in the front of the exhaust housing. since the space available for the compressor to draw in air is the inducer and the space available for exhaust to exit the turbine is the exducer, you can get an idea for the air flow ability and depending on all kinds of other factors the power it will be able to make from knowing the size of the inducer on the compressor and the exducer on the turbine. the area of the exhaust housing, or the third number given in the size helps you determine how much fliud can pass through the housing at a given pressure. that will help determine the lag or how fast the turbo spools and has an effect on EGTs and drive pressure.
