Re: My sons dropmember C10 build
Well the truck starts and runs now and if I had a fuel system and seats it would stop.
This weekend we bent brake lines and got the system up and working, installed a big trans cooler and plumbed it,welded up some exhaust with a set of same side offset 11x9x4 magnaflow mufflers and turn downs for now, made the battery cables from the rear to the front, pulled a couple of wires to the ignition switch and fired the motor up and topped off the trans. While we were at it we stuck it in the paint booth and gave the outside a coat of epoxy primer. I am not going to do any body or paint work until all the bugs are worked out of the truck and had to do something to keep it from rusting. |

Re: My sons dropmember C10 build
All the hard work in a rush paid off and we made it to the nashville goodguys event friday morning and drove home sat. night. The truck did very well in the autocross event in my eyes especially with it being my first time racing around a corner and the truck being untested.
We ended up in the 4th place spot in the truck class and walked away making several new friends and learning a lot about autoX. The group of guys that run the goodguys event are great and the racers are different than any form of motorsports I have been a part of,They are tons of help and super nice to talk with. Look for a ton of changes to the truck over the next few months especially in the wheel and tire department I must say I think i'm hooked. This run here was not the fastest of the day for us but the only one I have on video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mghe...yer_detailpage |

Re: My sons dropmember C10 build
Thanks guys.!!!
This was my first time ever trying to go around a corner and stop fast in any vehicle so it was a big learning experience and i am very happy with how myself and the truck did. I am totally hooked and can't wait to do it again. I have to focus on work and the building of our new house and shop for a few weeks and then get a set of front wheels and tires in so I can take some measurements to see what all has to be reworked to fit a set of 315/35/20's up front and the same out back. The rear will be easy but the front will be fun. But with the great guys at Porterbuilt I do not think it is going to be an issue at all.!!!! |

Re: My sons dropmember C10 build
I do believe that you just helped me make my mind up on a porter built coil over suspension setup...although I don't know how I feel about having to run a 2 piece DS. Also what seats did you end up going with? Would you mind sending me a few pictures of your interior? brnys2003@icloud.com
