Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
After hours of block sanding and prep, the doors are finally repainted and cleared. Very straight...

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Coming together nicely! That garage looks almost exactly like mine, lol. Door to the right would go into my house and my water heater is behind the door to the left.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
That's exactly how mine is. I sold the Fiat Spider that occupied half of my garage last night, so I have much more room now. My wife will now get her parking space back..lol

That looks like my old neighborhood off of Double Springs Road. I lived in Fville for about 10 years. Back in Eastern Arkansas now.
Beautiful truck! I've got Dad's 83 GMC waiting with my Jeeps for me to get time to work on them. Reading a build thread like this makes me want to start on it right away. |

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Took the old carpet out and replaced it with new carpet from Stock Interiors. I was impressed with the carpet. Had the holes stamped for easy cut out and they lined up well.
[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] The drives side seat belt cover was missing the rivets, they were replaced. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I can lock it up now, but it has been raining the last few days. I plan to drive it to work tomorrow if the weather holds.

Hopefully you were able to drive your truck. Weather was great so I drove my truck to work for the first time. 47mile commute.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I regret driving mine now! Started over heating when I got close to work this morning. Driving home the water pump went out and I had to pull over 4 times to let it cool down. I called several people to come pick me up but had no luck. Eventually I said screw it and drove home. The only reason I did that was because I had to pick my kids up by 6. Ran it at 260° for several miles and had water pouring out the overflow when I got home.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Hate to hear about your ride, but mine was pretty good! Do you think you did any damage tot the motor, those straight 6's are pretty tough...
This happened on the way home today... So as I was driving in the right lane a lady darts out of a side street and cut me off, gave me about 30 feet to slow down. A guy in a lifted Dodge sees this and gets in front of her and brake checks her. He then stuck his left arm out the window and gave me a thumbs up as I passed. He was still driving about 15mp when I last saw him with her trailing. I had Pandora cranked in the truck and at that moment Rush's Tom Sawyer started rocking out! Reminded me of high school!..lol

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
The engine cranked up about thirty minutes ago so it may be good.
That's funny about the dodge. Sounds like good times! lol

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
What a job the A/C was. I did my homework, but I ended up going to all three major parts stores in 4 different city's. It was hard to find a new radiator, and renting the vac and gauges was darn near impossible ($350+ to rent as well).
Removed all the brackets ect, from the old compressor and dryer. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] The compressor mounts were missing a few bolts, found some at the local TSC. After getting everything back together, I hooked up the vac and let it run for a few hours. [IMG][/IMG] The vac sat at 30 for an hour or so after I unhooked the vac, hoping I have no leaks [IMG][/IMG] Filled it with about 2lbs of r134. I could not find any info on filling with the r134. I filled it to about 45, it was around 80 degrees today. [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
It took me a solid two days to get the A/C complete. I have never done a complete system, and I wanted to make sure everything was clean and that I put it all back together correctly. I found my radiator had a leak, and the only parts store that had one was a bit of a drive. I also ordered a cross flow type condenser, from the advice of several members here. They sent it to the wrong store, and that was another drive. I got some wild advice from several of the counter guys at various parts stores-I bought an A/C video a while back and used that for reference. I used a new compressor vs a rebuilt, and I am so far happy with the results. No odd noises and the A/C blows cold...

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Thought you might, they do look familiar...I ordered some Belltech 1" drop springs today, to raise the front one inch. Those spacers scare the crap out of me! I do plan on some body work tomorrow, but I probably wont drive it much until I get those springs in..
