Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
Thanks guys for the kind words.
pt. - Luckily I'm not doing the wiring...looks like a huge headache, haha. The shop I have the truck at is taking good care of it. Tucking everything away nicely and building some custom mounts under the dash to make sure it all stays there.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
Stopped out at the shop yesterday for my weekly visit with the truck. Things are coming along.
Working on figuring out bump stops for the front. Thanks to Mattyparty for the info, sounds like Porterbuilt is recommending a spacer to be bolted between the bag and control arm so the deflated bag acts as a bump stop. Shooting for about 1/4-1/2" ground clearance when fully deflated. They also have the steering complete. Looks like they had to modify the header a little more. The rear-most pipe on the driver's side will be cut off and redone since it had to be flattened more than they liked. So, not a perfect fit out of the box but I'd say not a horrible one either.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
Quite the challenge to get everything to fit and work correctly. It's looking good Shane. I wonder how things would fit just using stock exhaust manifolds?

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
It is a challenge to get it all to fit and still look good. In the future I may have some inner panels built for the engine compartment. Then you wouldn't see much of this.
I don't think the stock manifolds fit. If I recall correctly, the original guy I had doing the suspension had to remove them to get the engine in place. I also looked through the Locomotive Lugnut build thread and he had to modify corvette manifolds to work with his LS engine and PB suspension. Think of how nice it would be if there was just a little more room, haha.

Thanks!
The shop is shooting for it to be done by their 2nd annual car show/open house, two weekends away.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
Yes...it is about time isn't it, lol.
The shop had a rainout for their show. It is rescheduled for this weekend. Truck is about 90% ready. Need to finish mounting the seat and seat belts, then tidy up everything. Fingers crossed it is done for the show this time. Here are a few pics of the progress the last couple weeks...

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
They sprayed a new brand epoxy primer but decided they didn't like the product. Here it is sanded back down and ready for a different primer. This set them back a couple days but I'm glad they would rather it be done right then done fast.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
This is after they sprayed the new epoxy primer. It was getting a bit dusty in the shop so they moved it outside. Mother Nature decided it needed a shower.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
that is looking awesome Shane...I'm still puddling through mock up. Really need a good weld machine. I also started disassembling the bed and someone decided to weld the lower front panel to the bedsides..grrr.

Re: 1958 GMC Memorial Build
Thanks guys! I'll try to get more pics up when the weather is nicer (and it's clean).
The bed floor will have to wait a while but it will eventually have a tilt lift framing with wood planks. For now I plan to run some angle iron down the bedsides and place plywood over to secure the goodies underneath.
