Re: Simple '49 Truck
Glad you got to enjoy some truck time. I was out at bruce's today and your wheels were getting painted. Did you figure out the overheating problem.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Today I got to check out brad's truck at my house. This thing turned out very nice. The Ls looks like it's very cozy in the engine compartment. Great job you and bruce did.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Henney- Is that the Lokar 32" single bend shifter? Can you post a couple pics of it installed? I am wondering how far the length of travel is when its pulled back into 'drive' position. Thanks!

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Sid,
Finally remembered to grab the cab to bed dimension you asked for. Sorry it took so long. Center of the cab is 1 3/8”, corner of the cab it’s 2 ¼”. Chuck, I went with the 23” Lokar. First picture is in park and the second one is in low. The pictures are real bad because I broke my phone Thanks Chizzler, the window bead tool worked much better than the plastic scrapper. Got it in in under 10 minutes. |

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Been doing some minor things. Got the front emblem on and the door locks in. That's about the most exciting photos I have. Will be starting in on the bed in the next few weeks.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Looking good, I made the exact same door lock for my 51'. Went with bearclaws on my current build. Made my own bolt on kit, rather than the expensive altman kit.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
oh, hahhahah thanks, I prolly seen that and just forgot. Its hard to keep up and remember everything, esp these days. I used rocky hinge for my keyless entry. Mine currently isn't working, not sure if its the keyfob or what. I recently purchased AVS keyless entry for my 49'. I like their keyfob alot better because its thinner and has a cover that slides open.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Not a whole lot photo worthy to update. I did get the new heater core installed and finished off the defrost hose and cable lever. I really like the electric valve from Vintage Air.
I have all of the mechanical stuff installed for the wipers but I really don’t like the way the Newport switch looked in the dash. I was under the impression their switch mated up nicely with the stock wiper switch bezel which isn’t the case. There will be a little mod work needed or a ’55 wiper bezel apparently will work. I ordered one because it was cheap and if it looks acceptable I might run with that. Stereo is fully in and dialed and I’ve been driving it every day as planned. I will say it’s going to be tough pulling out of the garage in a rain storm. |

Re: Simple '49 Truck
yeah those aftermarket wiper switches are hideous. I put mine under the dash. I don't like reaching up that far to hit the switch on the OG location anyway. esp with a wiper motor that is 1 or 2 speed, just never seems to be synched up with the rain, so you got to manually turn them high, low or on off all the time. nice conversion though.

Re: Simple '49 Truck
Great looking truck! I like the color alot. Question for you though. How do you get into the truck if the actuator ever fails or the battery dies? I want to do something similar but not sure what my failsafe would be.

Henney. Truck looks great! Nice job sticking to the timeline as well. Any info you can share on reusing the factory steering column?

what kind of info are you looking for? We didn't do anything special. Cut the column down about 2 inches moving it closer to the dash but used the same mount and firewall hole.
