Re: John's LS 49 Dodge

Ok Guy's this is the End of this build.....

When it came time to get it all wired It took some time for me to do! (my first wire job) and after getting all the F.I. plumbed and the new engine harness wired up it was time to fire the old girl!!!!

And....Nothing....It crank's but no fire.
All the injectors were clogged so I soaked them over night and rigged up a connector to plug them in and test on the bench. After I had them good to go we tried again and...IT'S Alive!!!
Let it run for awhile checking fluids etc...It drove pretty nice the first time out and really hug's the road. I was Very Happy with it.

The finished product....
I hope one day I will be able to give it the paint job it deserves....
The owner John is super happy with the truck and in the 2nd pic is a shot of john's other car a 65 mustang that I have also done work on (suspension etc)
Hope you enjoyed the build....

Till Next time..

Re: John's LS 49 Dodge

Here is an update for John's truck (not a good one)
He called me up a week ago and told me he backed into his Garage and messed up the passenger side fender and needs it fixed.

Pic #1. The fender was not super bad but bad enough. A bad crack and a good size dent.

Pic #2. After removing 1/2" of mud that covered a horrible brazing job in several spots (Hench the cracking)

Pic #3. This was the worse of the spots and the the really bad crack.

Pic #4.A different view shows how bad it was. So I drilled a hole to give it a radius (and less likely to develop a crack later) and will cut out the entire area.
Till Next time Mark...

Re: John's LS 49 Dodge

Yes! unfortunately parts are a bit scarce for these..

Pic #1. Here I have cut out a section so it can be properly repaired ( brazing is softer and if not done correctly cracks easily)

Pic #2. This is the new piece being mocked up. I used a stainless rod to get the radius it needed for the lip of the fender.

Pic #3. Fitting into place.

Pic #4. All welded in.

Re: John's LS 49 Dodge

The Springfield trip was really Good...

The Dodge ran great all the way up.

Some small details to iron out A.K.A new tires (bad shake around 65) but drives super straight and the old girl's getting just shy of 21 MPG!!!

Was a good turnout for the show and Jimbo's truck was chosen for an NSRA pro's pick and received an award.

Re: John's LS 49 Dodge

An update on John's 49 he decided to have A/C installed in the truck after sweating his but off all summer again.

Pic #1. The unit is from Southern Rods (Southern Air) it is a under dash unit Heat/air it measures 16" wide 10" deep and 5" tall the entire kit with pump, lines, condenser etc. was $725.00 about 300 less then the VA. This is going to be the 2nd kit from them I have used very cold and easy to install.

Will update when I start the install.
