Re: Building a '49 for myself
I ran a bunch of ground wires and made sure every important part was grounded (even it is a little over kill).

Re: Building a '49 for myself
Then the chassis rolled out of my shop and down to the painters for a bit. I snapped a couple outside pics first though.

Re: Building a '49 for myself
It's now back at my shop as of today. We got the freshly painted cab on the frame so we can get started on wiring!

Beautiful truck. If I can get my chassis to turn out half as nice I'll be happy.

The good news is that if you have any electrical gremlins, you won't be scratching your head thinking "I wonder if it is a ground problem" haha

I like that part of the build, almost as much as the first drive out of the shop for the first time with good brakes !!

Re: Building a '49 for myself
Nice ride, when you took it to get sandblasted did you separate cab from the frame or leave the cab still mounted on frame? I am still doing research before I start my build.

Re: Building a '49 for myself
I knew I not using the stock frame, so when I took the cab to be blasted I basically just used the stock frame as a way to transport the cab. When they blasted the cab they lifted it off the frame, just like they would've if I had brought it to them on a cart.

Re: Building a '49 for myself
I've been pretty busy lately, so I haven't had a chance to get on here and post more photos till now.
Got the bed wood installed. The wood and the strips are both from LMC Truck. I love the hidden hardware strips. Then worked on getting the tail lights wired. I ran the wires through a piece of aluminum fuel line. The tail lights from LMC Truck are LED

Re: Building a '49 for myself
Headlights and turn signals are also installed and working. The turn signals are LED from LMC Truck, and the headlights are also LED and from JW Speaker. Every single light on this truck is now LED.
Dakota Digital VHX gauges installed and operational And.... its first voyage around the shop. Then straight onto the trailer and off to the interior and stereo shop.
