Re: Hemi's 70 Blazer build

I'll be covering the floor with sound deadener (Peel&Seal), then carpet without the jute backing. I made my own roll bar and had it mandrel bent.

I have read about peel and seal somewhere. Perhaps in one of your posts. Where do you get it?

I live in Canada, so I get it from a roofing supply house. I think Home Depot in the US sells it.

Engine bay is starting to fill up. So far I've had zero clearance issues, and it looks like it belongs there.

Go to http://candcnc.com/
for the electronics. The table will have to be built with whatever you can afford or scrounge. The most expensive part will the the linear bearings. Try to find some used ones. Another way of getting the table is to purchase an old one with outdated electronics and rebuild it.

Re: Hemi's 70 Blazer build

Doesn't look like much progress, but I haven't stopped working on the Blazer. Finally got all the wiring done which took forever. I hate wiring !! Got the Dakota Digital dash installed too.
Fender and doors were temporarily installed so that the body mounts could be shimmed and tightened. I'm real happy with the door fits. The new grille was also fitted. It's real thin compared to the original.
Go my rad core this morning from Howe racing, so will be fabbing the tanks hopefully this weekend. Once it's installed, I'll be able to fire up the engine.

Looks great, nice progress. Where did you get the steering wheel mounting hub. Mine is a very old design, and the horn button keeps falling off

If your horn button is falling off, you may have the mounting ring clocked wrong. Remove the button, and you'll see that it will only go on one way on the ring. You may need to rotate the mounting ring 1 or 2 holes.

I got the rad done and installed. I plasma cut the tanks and they fit perfect. I only have about $200 in total to build the rad so it was worth a bit of time and effort considering buying a comparable unit would be almost $500.
I also got the AC lines installed. I haven't put the 134a in yet just in case things have to come apart. I did however evacuate the system and seems to hold a steady vacuum.
Hopefully will get it fired up next week.
Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!
Dan

I did my own harness. Just a reworked stock item, and it's really quite simple to do. This web site will take you step by step on how to do it.http://www.lt1swap.com/
Having a wiring schematic of the donor vehicle is a must also especially if you want to run all the emission components.

Do you have any specs for the roll bar that you built?

I have a couple .DXF drawings of it. You may want to wait till I get the driver's seat installed before copying it. I designed it to fit under the Softopper, but am concerned about having the seat belt mounting point too close to my head. Time will tell if I have to modify it or move it back a bit.
It was made from 2 1/2 dia 1/8 wall tubing with a CLR of 5".
