I do too, the climate at that time was pathetic to say the least. We are closer than I thought. I was 8th engineer battalion. Ribbon bridge. I was lead boat operator, bridge erection crew. MY dad was 101st airbourne, Korea. He was a little before viet nam, I was a little behind

Until I got to the last page I was beginning to think everyone here were kids.
When my truck was built, I was awaiting my orders for Nam.

Re: How old were you when your truck was new?

Sincerest thanks to all that served, or currently serving.
They were still issuing numbers when I started high school.

I was 10 in '67

I had been driving our '54 1/2 ton around the farm for a couple years by then...not big enough to throw hay bales yet!
That '54 Chevy had a chrome grille and bumpers. Dad found it in a junkyard for $100 (no title) and brought the six cylinder back to life.
I remember sitting on the inner fender well looking down the cylinders while my brother-in-law was running the hone through.

Worse than how some treat the police today. I appreciate your service, and the others as well. My stepdad/Lt Col. did a couple of tours. He's going to be 86. He's HILARIOUS. Mother's childhood sweetheart. Originally from Ohio, migrated to WV, been here since 97. He's the best thing to ever happen to my mother.

Re: How old were you when your truck was new?

I was 4 when my 70 was built. I too have a "soft spot" for old Chevy/GMC trucks. Thank goodness I also have eighty acres to park/hide them all...
Some are running, some restored, some parts. I own 17 trucks. My oldest is a 1970 GMC, and newest is a 05 Duramax Crewcab.

To Ironhorse and 71shortbed's step dad. My girl would give you anything if she thought it would make you happy. Her family is a tribute to this country, absolutely beautiful people. The guys that went to viet nam are partially responsible for them being here. And you are heroes. You saved lives. You saved beautiful lives

My stepdad had a girlfriend in Vietnam. He was quite fond of her. I guess there was a break, and the last they met he asked if she had a boob job. She explained how it was a miracle from God. I recently saw a newspaper print of he holding a small Vietnamese boy in a sht storm. I'll have to ask about the event, because it sounded important. Anyway, the picture tells quite a story. There was fear in the eyes of the others, but his concern was comforting that little boy. Honor defined.

My daughter was in Taekwondo. Turns out Grand Master was a old friend I hadn't seen in decades. He's Vietnamese, fought in the war as well. He's 9-10 degree black belt. Probably weighs 90 lbs, and all good character.

Pretty sure my '70 was assembled in march or april of '70 so I was already 21 to 22 months older.
