Means a lot guys, really. My dad always told me as a pup when we went to car shows that it's all in the details.

Such a cool, original build. Can't wait to see this one play out and hopefully a video of that 4bt singing.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT

Found another sweet score for the build last Friday. A few weeks back when I found the old radiator at a buddies shop, my buddy drug these seats out from all the weeds and piles of body panels in his back yard. His story was that these were old bombardier seats which explained how he had come across the matching pair and that they were found semi locally at some shut down military facility that had tons of old decommissioned planes, helicopters and jet parts. Now even though the story sounded good and legit enough with the details he gave, I find it kind of hard to believe that these just fell into my hands for next to nothing. Either way, I love them and think they'll be another great addition to the build...once I get them covered and locate the original harnesses for them. By the way, feel free to chime in if you know what they're from. I've looked everywhere online and have only found one other pair. The owner of the other pair had been asking and couldn't figure it out either. Ok on with the pics.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT

There wasn't a company name anywhere except on the hardware and on some of the brackets. The brackets s.n.'s were all engraved on to the number plates.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT

The backside. It has adjustable tilt/recline that I was able to get somewhat freed up as well as getting the sliders to work after we fabbed up new lowers for the seats to slide on and mount to the floor.

Last pic. Oh yeah, I threw together a shifter out of an old cutting torch. Not sure if I like it though.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT

Ok so I figured it out this morning. They're UH-1 gunship seats. Even cooler. Must be the early 60's model because I have seen armor on all the newer styled seats.

Very cool score on the seats! Nice work adapting the sliders to the floor too.

Thank you sir. I haven't yet. We go to Clayton and Hot Springs mostly or barnwell mtn. in Gilmer. A buddy of mine is from N.M. and had been talking about planning a trip sometime in the future. The rocks are insane from what I've seen in videos.

Re: 1960 Bagged, Bodied and back-halfed with Cummins 4BT

I was going to comment on your seats earlier but forgot. Yes those seats are UH-1 seats as you have already found out. Also I believe the bell 205's and 212's had the same seats. It's difficult to find a picture because many aircraft were fitted with STC'd (aftermarket) seats for the whining pilots comfort. it would be bad ass to find some original seat coushins and harness.. If I remember correctly I believe we have a few seat belt harnesses I can ask about and see what's up with them. Seat coushins would be easy to make though as they aren't anything special.

Oh hell yeah! Would definitely be interested in seeing the belts. I just bought some off eBay that'll probably look the part enough but it's not a matching set. They're lap and shoulder belts.

Looks like there is a complete set there and the black belt looks to be a separate lap belt.
