You really only need the flex line between the frame and the pump to allow the line to flex with the engine/trans. As long as nothing else is a moving part, hard line should work fine. Also, most newer vehicles are using nylon (plastic) line since ethanol eats rubber pretty quickly. Heat becomes a concern with the nylon stuff though.

Re: New Daily Driver
Let's talk disc brakes. I'd like to upgrade to... No, I NEED to upgrade my brakes. I liked the performance of the 4-wheel disc setup I had on the stepside, it was a mix of ECE and CPP. Recently a well known builder warned me to stay away from CPP parts, I'm guessing he's seen some failures or quality issues. I like the fact that CPPs modular spindles keep the track width, but I'm more concerned about buying anything that may fail later. With this in mind I'm think of a couple scenarios. Opinions? Experiences?
1.) ECE 2.5" drop spindles with factory style single piston calipers, factory iron M/C with stock proportioning valve, and ECE rear drum upgrade kit. All this from ECE would be around $1400 + shipping 2.) Custom built 4 wheel disc brake kit using factory Corvette brake parts, McGaughy's spindles, and a Wilwood M/C with proportioning valve set up. $2500 3.) CPP 4 wheel disc kit. $1545 + shipping

Re: New Daily Driver
Keeping 15s? 6-lug? Have you looked into any of the captfab rear brackets? I think you can put together a 4 wheel disc setup for much less than those, unless you like the convenience of a kit.
Only issues I've ever heard of from CPP arise from customer service.

DJM drop spindles-$220 ECE 6-lug rotors-$200 Calipers, balljoints, etc from rockauto Captfab rear setup I think you can put it all together for around $1k, just guessing. Requires a little planning/leg work, but to mee, that's half the fun

Re: New Daily Driver
I agree with Chris. The only issues I've heard and read about with CPP are customer service driven. I personally bought the Modular drop spindles just to be able to run bigger brakes in the future and a bonus is the narrower track width. I just made sure to buy them from a board vendor so I didn't have to deal with CPP directly.
As for brakes, I went with Wilwoods, but I wanted the look too. I've read a few times that 4 wheel disc on a truck isn't really necessary, but if you plan on towing, racing or anything like that, it can't hurt. I hear McGaughy's and ECE are similar to the CPP kits for stopping power, but I don't have personal experience with any of them. Good luck!

I like option #1
I like one phone call, one order. I don't have time to chase parts and hope I'm ordering the right ones.

Re: New Daily Driver
I ordered the first part of my brake upgrade today, and I am hopeful it turns out well. The quote, "There's a sucker born everyday" is bouncing around in my head. I ordered a master cylinder/proportioning valve and a pre-bent line kit from Performance Online. Never ordered from them so I'm cautious. Also, I tried the pre-bent lines from CPP with my stepper and because I swapped the '68 crossmember for a '73 my brake upgrade wasn't the norm, so I ended up not using their lines. Unfortunately, I have no idea what happened to those lines. Anyway, a friend of mine has a spare set of new 12" 6-lug rotors I can get on a deal and I'll be ordering CPP modular spindles and caliper brackets soon. Who on the board sells CPP? Everything else I can source at my local parts store. For now I'm going to try and get the rear drums working better with the front discs, but at some point I'll do a 6-lug rear disc conversion. I hope to have all of the parts required by the veteran's day weekend so I can take advantage of the extra day off to do the swap, can't have the daily driver down too long. We'll see...

Re: New Daily Driver
Sounds like a solid plan. Do us a favour and measure before/after track width with the CPP modulars

I bought mine from Matt from Matt's Classic Bowties, I believe his forum name is MCB Matt. He has several threads in the Vendors Marketplace.

Don't exactly know yet. Maybe a convertible for my wife or maybe another C10, will be a few days to a week before we know.
