Speaking of buyers.....i have my cab for sale, had it sold verbally last Thursday to be picked up Friday. Lets me know friday morning that his wife said he couldnt buy it....while i was on my hour drive to where my cab is. Probably oughta clear that with the wife before hand i suppose....

I know how you feel Tommy. That is why sometimes you see ads on EBay with the line, " check with your wife ,mother banker or whoever before you bid on this vehicle"

2 more things that annoy me---
A while back a guy called me asking for a seat for his 67/72 truck.i said yes I have one,come get it.
He got to the end of my driveway,called and said he changed his mind because it had been raining and he didn't want to get dirt on his car.My drive is 1800' long and is gravel and dirt.
I sold a shortbed parts truck 2 weekends ago.Guy came out in a roll-back and was loading it when I stopped the driver from loading.
For the second time I had to ask the guy to pay for the truck!
People can be odd at times!

I just sold an item on ebay. The auction Specifically stated local pickup only in 4 different locations. I'm in northern California. I just got an email from the winning bidder asking if I could arrange shipping to Kent Wa!?!?!?

Just keeps getting better and better!! The most recent e-mail from him.
P.s. No where in the auction did it say "free shipping" and still he hasn't paid for it!

I have been busy finding shipment. I also followed your advice for wich I would like to thank you.Here is the situation:
I wanted to ship this unit internationally (Europe) after its arrival in Kent (WA). I have been looking for this product for quite a while and I thought this was my chance.
When I calculate the total door-to-door shipping costs I am reaching amounts with both Fedex and UPS of over $900,-
That is before packaging and customs and also before getting this unit fixed and running and installed at my place.

This means the total investment will be hugely exeeding economical logical limits.

I think I underestimated the shipping costs, I was thinking around $100 to 200, also when I did my bidding the advertisement on E-bay said 'free shipping' wich confused me. It was at least not pointing me towards the bitter reality of costs over $900,-.

My question:
Do you have other options of getting this unit to Europe (Sea cargo? I could drive to a port to pick it up), or do we need to make other arrangements?

Tell him to fly a kite! That shipment after wa would be on him, nothing even remotely having to do with you. sounds like he needs to rethink his priorities and you should probably just bow out nicely and put it back up for sale again.

I agree although I still have to pay the fees and run a new auction again.

I gave up listing "local pickup only" items on eBay because people on the other side of the country would "buy" it an then send me an email asking me to crate and ship whatever angry Elephant I happened to be selling.

Doesn't happen as much these days, but back in the phone and newspaper days (shudder), calls would go like this:

Buyer: Do you really have an X for sale?
Me: Yes. That's what the ad says.
Buyer: Do you still have it?
Me: Yes
Buyer: Great! I've been searching for years! I'll be right over! Don't sell it to anyone else!

At which point of course no one ever shows up and there's no explanation. And it's not like my house was scaring them away, it was a normal looking place, honest :-)

A classic is seller stating "Serious Inquiries Only" with no price. How can I know if I'm serious before I even know the price?

I've seen that a lot over the years. I'd hate to feel obligated to buy something just because the seller told me the price

This kind of stuff doesn't annoy me too much. But it can be amusing. I think "Ran when parked" is a helpful description. That means whatever it needs to run now will be related to it's sitting spell. It means it was a running operating car that stopped being driven. They didn't stop driving it because of a blown head gasket, rod knock, bad rear, blown transmission, or any major mechanical issue. That is helpful information. The obvious reply to being told that would be, "Why was it parked?".

We used to have a little local paper here called "Bargain Mart"....for a few dollars you could advertise anything...it was the printed version of "craigslist" if you will...

One year I had moved and had several items for sale....got several calls and when I got home from work, there were 4 different people in my driveway...

All of them wanted the same item...all I said was "who was here first...with the money"?

95% rust free. Love it, only 5% rusted. I would not be interested if 95% rusted. The thing is, when you find rust in rockers, door & fender bottoms, cab corner, bottom of tailgate, edges of hood, cab mounts it's only about 5% of the body. That's when you say rust isn't too bad or typical rust. Point is, we have moved away from the "rust free" thing at this point and time to face the rust.

Funny, I never asked the seller of my 67 GMC 3500 why he parked this running truck 10 years ago! But it sitting all those years did it NO good.

The thing that annoys me when trying to buy anything is the sellers asking me to set the price. I need to know where a seller's mind is at before considering a thing toward buying what they are selling. If I make an offer it will be based on your price. I have often paid asking price when it seemed reasonable.

On CL marketplace there is this annoying tred lately with ads like
"Got $4000, whats out there?"

Really? You can't search the internet yourself? And can't even narrow it down to type of car? I think these are bored people who get off on the attention.

Next is the guy that posts one pic and the ad just says "Chevy Truck PM for details"

Really? You can't take the time to post ANY relevant information? It has to take more time to respond to dozens of messages vs just putting it in the actual ad.

No, there isn't too much to list. CL and FB are free. Post as many details as possible. "Too much to list" = " I'm a lazy bastard"

And the people selling Cameros. I mean, the freakin name is on the car. Often its readable in the pic you posted. When I was shopping for a Camaro I used to answer these ads with - "I'm interested in your CamEro. Would you consider a MustEng in trade?" They never got it.

No. Low miles are low miles. Yes 200,000 miles on a 40 yr old vehicle means it was only driven 5k per year, but its not LOW MILES.

The thing that sends me over the edge fast !

I bought a few 67's off craigslist a while back and after sending a deposit and telling the sellers what day I would be there and I'm making a 600 mile trip ,When I show up at the time and day the trucks still sitting in the back yard with flat tires ! Another one 400 miles away was next to his garage with the 2 cords of firewood he just bought piled in front of it with no way around ! And then I drive about 800 miles on another only to get there and the new wheels and tires are gone ! The cops came out over that one ,I got the wheels 2 hrs later
