Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Thanks for the compliment.
We are working on the interior now, doing something a little different with the materials on the seat. We will see how it looks...Hoping to have it done by LST...

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
karl,
interested to see what you do for your interior....I was wondering if you might be able/willing to help a brother out with your vast knowledge and skill.... I am trying to connect my heater hoses up and I am not sure what the 2 outlets on the waterpump are related to? I have a 2013 4.8 LS installed in a '86 swb, the A.C. is a V.A. "sure fit"system. there is a smaller outlet and a slightly larger outlet next to it ('13 water pump) the V.A. instructions only indicate how to connect related to a "std sbc" engine. any assistance would be greatly appreciated... |

The smaller hose barb on the water pump is the hot water out to the heater core. See pictures.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
karl,
thanks for the reply... no worries on return time. I believe I have it connected correctly, after looking at a few other builds & checking. I have the "smaller" engine connection tube connected to the valve line on the V.A. sure fit system and the "larger" engine connection is connected to the other heater connection. thanks again for the response. |

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Started doing work on the interior to get it finished up. Stripped out the old carpet and jute padding. Overall the cab floor looks good. Small spot under the seat and a spot on the passenger floor next to the trans tunnel. Both have surface rust that will clean up with a wire wheel. Once I have the right paint I will cover those areas. For now, we worked around those spots and put in the vibro dampening material. That was not as hard as I expected, this stuff formed to the contours very well. The roller I used has a serrated surface so you can see where you have or have not rolled the material down.
Need to rework the seat belts, but for now we cleaned and lubed up the driver side and it works like new, need to do the rest and dye the plastics to match. Seat is down and looks great, you will have to wait till the carpet is in and the door panels are done before I show it to y'all. Picked out the carpet style and color, now I just need to see if they will make a molded carpet for this '84 out of a material they only list for a '73 model. Enjoy the pictures...

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Never before has it occurred to me to cut and buff the painted floor in an automobile, but that floor is super clean other than maybe a heater core issue at some time. Good luck with your progress.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Well we got the carpet in earlier this week, and laid it out in the house. Put it out in the sun yesterday and when I got home we knocked out the rest of the vibro dampening material and installed the carpet and the carpet door bottoms. Need to rehab the seat belts and get the door sill trim cleaned up and that will complete the floors. I hope to finish up the door panel inserts this weekend and get those installed.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
karl ,
I am always referring to this for tips & ideas for my 1986 LS swap!. I was wondering how this is working now after a miles on it.... I am currently working on my swap... still working out the factory wiring (engine) and the fuel pumps. I am having more of a hard time trying to reconnect silly things like wiper arms & the squirters!!... LOL!! thanks!! rodstored-72 Last edited by rodstored-72; 06-21-2020 at 02:48 PM. |

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Thanks for the replies!
Owen has been driving the truck pretty much daily since last August, probably 7k miles with only minor issues. We had a pesky water leak but finally got that under control. He has had to use an app on his phone for a speedo, so I found one out of a 1994 G-20 Chevy Van and adapted it to the factory cluster. While I had the cluster out, I cleaned everything and repainted the gauge needles and installed LED lights. we have it all back in the truck now, but I need to hook up the 3 wires for the speedo. Two of the LEDs are not working, so we need to figure out why, but no real rush on that. I will hook up the wiring tomorrow after work and get the speedo functional. We have already tested it and it reads within 1 or 2 mph against the gps phone app. Here are a few pictures:

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Took this one to a local show at a place called Iron Farms. First show for the person putting it on, had a great turn out. Here are picks of Henry.
I have no clue why the pics are upside down. They show correctly on my PC. My son, Korbin, took them with his phone...

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Here are the two trucks that won 1st & 2nd for the 73-87 Square Body class.
The Blue/Silver won 1st place and belonged to a co-worker's husband. The Silver one got 2nd and was from a local company Chrome Reflections, he sold it at the show.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Henry actually belongs to Owen, my second boy. For the life of me, I don't know why other than I did not wash it before we came out. It is original paint, and the other two had new or very recent repaints. The silver one had a nice interior, but the interior on the blue one was shot...

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
aawww... I figured it out!!!! it was because Owen's truck was.... upside down!! I had a similar experience in a show (my old '72)... my truck was cleaner and more "showy" overall (2nd place), but the winner had a "custom interior" and a high dollar stereo system!

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Well, some progress has been made on this one. Finally got a sport bumper for him, so yesterday, Henry got a butt lift...That chrome drop bumper was HEAVY...Most people like to tuck them in closer to the body. I am going to leave this one where GM designed it, except that I will be making a filler piece to go between the bumper and the bed than attaches to the bumper brackets. The front filler piece behind the front bumper is tan, so I think I will paint this rear one tan too.
Still need to get the plate mount cleaned, painted and installed.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
I also played around with wheels and tires...
These are the ones going on my '65, but its not ready for them, so I figured, what the hell let's see how this looks. Not the style for Henry, but I do like the tire sizes and stance.

Re: Henry - 1984 C10
Last update for today.
Working on some small changes/updates to the interior. I have been asked to use the truck for a catalog for a new C10 product, once I have the OK to share it, I will post it up here. If all goes well, the truck will be at the Good Guys show in Nashville in a vendor booth. Unfortunately, I cannot be there as it is the same weekend that my daughter graduates from High School.
