Re: parting out 2 trucks
CousinTone, I forgot I hacked up the inside of the pillar, where it meets the dash, when I was removing the dash. Also the lip for the windshield looks like it is partially cut off. It's snowing like a son of a gun here today, so the pics are snowy.

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Vetnat, thanks for the update. I'm more interested in the roof section in this picture If the pillar is gone, that's fine. I can make due if the roof section is ok at the area just back of pillar to the back seam, see if this make better sense than my crazy description. Just leave the pillar out, look at roof section and see if you have that in decent shape, interior and exterior. let me know. I appreciate the extra effort.
I don't know how to attach a picture and have it post together so I've attached a PDF with some specific explanations and I hope it explains what i'm looking for. Here it is.............. |

Re: parting out 2 trucks
I will check that section out for you, I think it is OK. And since the pic is of a newer truck, just to confirm, a section from a 1963 with wrap around windshield is what you are after?

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Vetnat, yes, i'm working a 1964, that was the only picture that would give us both the angle and room to mark up. So yes and it's basically a rectangle with a curve where the roof rolls to follow the windscreen. Approx 6" deep. LEt me know how much sent to CA zip 92870. I appreciate your detail and speed, amazing. I"m lucky to log in couple times a week......

Re: parting out 2 trucks
CousinTone, found some more rust than I remembered. Took pics while standing in a snow bank, with the setting sun in my eyes, so not the best. Not sure if this will work for you, so took some pics before I go ahead and cut. Don't usually see a lot of rust in the roof area in these trucks around here, pretty dry climate, so not sure why this truck does have it. Anyway, let me know, and if its too rusty, no worries.
1st pic - shows proposed cut line in black marker. 2nd pic - is rotated, top is at the left, shows some rust on the lip the windshield sits against. Not visible when the gasket is installed. 3rd pic - side view, proposed cut line just visible at far right of photo.

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Found 2 spots of rust-through on the inside. One above the windshield is probably just beyond the cut line, but there is also some surface rust on the piece you do want. The other spot is in the top of the pillar section.

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Thanks Vennat - it's a bit rough, but will work out if you can include as much of the pillar as possible. My rust issue is mostly on the door side of the pillar and yours seems to be on the windshield side, which meshes perfectly. If you could send the section in the third picture, including as much of the pillar as you can or at least 10 or 12 inches, and up into the roof about 6" (I'm not exact and don't expect an exact cut!!) that picture is exactly where my rust issue if on my CA cab. You could also cut the pillar at the joint and I can make that work if it's easier for packing and shipping. We're both in dry climates and have rust issues where there is not normally rust issues anywhere in the "rust belt"...we're just lucky i guess. Let me know, I appreciate all your follow up. You are another example of a great person on this board who is honest and genuinely a nice guy wanting to help out the community of us crazy, rust fixing, truck nuts. Thank you. Tony

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Vetnat, let me know if the proposal of sending you $50 via paypal ($40 for the parts and $10 towards the unknown shipping) will work and we can settle up once you get the final shipping number when you're down in MT tomorrow.
Thanks, Tony |

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Hey Vetnat, no packages yet. Do you have the receipt with the tracking nuber on it? LEt me know, have a body guy lined up for this weekend and gave him a deposit that is not returnable. I've got my fingers crossed? LEt me know
Update = I found the tracking info and it's still coming. I guess Thursday doesn't end until midnight and they say it's on its way. So, nevermind for now. I'll confirm arrival when it gets here. Thanks, Tonh Last edited by CousinTone; 03-15-2018 at 11:19 PM. |

Re: parting out 2 trucks
Final Update:
Vetnat, box arrived this morning and considering its the post office, that's Thursday for them. Opened box and pulled part, it was exactly as you described and somehow you cut it EXACTLY as I needed it, even after my direction with that horrible picture with the cut lines. Your cuts are right on and this will help me with my project and I will look you up for parts next time i'm in need. Thank you very much. |
