Could be they couldn't accommodate those in the column shift, where as yours is a floor shift?

Ahhh yes!!

I looked in the garage at the Ididit column for the '72 c10 and it has one short slot but it's not for mounting. Haven't had that column in that truck for fourteen years so I don't remember how it mounts but must be a clamp or something.

DLW
I'm really digging the gray and black. Beautiful truck!

Thanks for the compliment. I'd like to go shopping in your yard for some parts some time ..

Not sure on total length, seems like I remember somewhere in the 30-31" range, but don't quote me on that. I can grab a tape and measure how much it comes out of firewall, it is at least 5" to the end of the shaft, probably more.

Well, then I don't know what the deal is with the slots then. I know others have also had to drill and tap with theirs. Maybe they made some changes recently. I bought part number 1150650030 which is the retrofit column for the 60-66. I would rather of had the slotted one myself.

Definitely should meet up sometime since your just up the road.

Other than drill/tap the column to accept factory bracket, were there any issues using the 'stock' brackets? Also, any issues or special parts going through the firewall?

No issues at all installing this, fit very nicely. I do have a different steering shaft setup than stock so I can't comment on that though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

My brake reservoir emptied twice, when I looked down you could see the paint coming off the booster and on the frame. This master is only a few years old and I guess it failed. I changed it out and was hoping I didn't have to bleed the whole system. I pulled the truck out and was able to make the brake pedal go to the floor. I figured their was air in the line. Well when I went to bleed them the right front wheel was wet. I know the last time I put brake pads in the truck the line kinked when I put the caliper back on and I didn't know until I drove the truck. I think that is when the line was compromised and might have had a pin hole in it. Now I just have to change the line and bleed the brakes. woooo hoooo.

I touched up the booster and painted the Master Stainless Steel from Rust Oleum Professional

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

patch for the passenger floor.

Patch cut and made to fit. Then welded and ground back.

After this I marked, cut, fabricated and welded in a drivers sill panel.

It is actually better than the photo implies?

With failing light, I had opened up this bit of rust and made a repair panel, but walked away as the light was not bright at all.

Tomorrow, Bootfair then carry on with the cab.

Scrapped Crustine's old crappy no original seat and put in an original style seat from the same year. The 50 year old upholstery is in perrty good shape. Has been covered with 2 seat covers for 50 years. lol I like it much better! Will be putting a good seat cover on it though to help protect the rips in the upholstery.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Not a lot to be honest.

Went out to see a movie (The Martian) with Nicola tonight.

Got a text from mate Martin while in there that my cutout pipes and the Flanges my secret benefactor had cut for me were now welded up and ready for collection from Colin at the Checkers Pub in Hoo St Werburgh.

So I drove by on the way home from the movies and traded a pack of Spitfire beers for the cutouts and dropped off a length of 16A three core cable fo Martin to wire his new compressor into the mains as it is not happy with the 13A it's been fed.

Got home and had to take a couple of bad pics of what I now have, HAPPY HAPPY.

THE ANTI-SOCIAL THUGGERY WILL HAPPEN.

340ml beer can on the 2.5" connectors just for perspective of size of these outlets.

Did I mention that I was very pleased ?

I do love the neatness of well done Tig welding.

Once polished and cleaned they will be stashed for later use.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Installed a lot of the sheet metal, fenders, grill support, grill, hood hinges, hood bracket, everything but the hood and front bumper. Test fitted the Entropy radiator, looks like the top hose will be a challenge. Next is the sway bar, bumper and hood, then I start the brake and fuel lines, the accuair and tanks.

Bought a front bed panel from a member. Received a front inner fender from another member. Got the upper a arms out of the degreaser soak, scrub brushed and rinsed. Ready for the wire wheel or blaster, whatever it takes to clean them for paint.

Thanks OldChevy61. Mine used to be the truck color, but the PO let brake fluid run all over everything and bubbled the paint so I decided to take the easy way out and go satin black. The firewall is Dupli-color bedliner and everything else is powder coated.
