What does £131.00 buy you from WASP Performance?
I am very happy tonight. These have put a silly grind my face just thinking of them fitted. Need to still get and build the 2.5" pipe work and get some 3" flanges to step down to the 2.5" from the 3" cutouts. Did I mention Anti Social Thuggery?

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Just got off the phone with the boy… He tried the Kohl's near him and…. wait for it...
Long story short… they didn't have those shirts, and when he tried to get some assistance, that is when the fun started… The girl, at the register he went to, was one of those classic… "lights on, no one home" individuals... He asked her about the shirts, and if he could get some help in that area, cue the Jeopardy theme music, and she went into blank stare mode. She looked at his phone and pic of shirts, then looked at computer screen, then back at t-shirt display in the distance, then back at boy, then at telephone near register… by this time the boy's wife started for the door… he remained quiet waiting for anything, then said "Forget it" and left... He's going to check at another Kohl's...

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Thanks Don.
Got home tonight and my new gearbox mount had arrived from Langeys Rodshop. The one that was on the truck had perished and fallen apart, so needed replacing. I was up at 05.00 to get out the house by 06.00 today, had an appointment over in the Barnet area for 08.00 and 09.00 followed by some more visits around that side of London and a pop in to head office to pick up some materials. Fortunately I was able to pop into Real Steel between appointments to pick up some parts for my engine, and some bits for mate Martin. The guys there are just amazingly helpful and patient. After work I fitted the gearbox mount and got some measurements for the flanges I need mate Darrwn to laser cut in Stainless Steel and mild steel for me that will be welded to thenY pieces and exhaust pipe when I build it. Cereal box engineering at its best. 10mm request was based on what is on the QTP Y pieces, but Darren suggested 5mm will do the job equally well. Once these are made up they get Tig welded to the stainless Y pieces and the mild steel units to the actual exhaust pipes that needs bending and fitting to the Flowmasters.

Thanks Don, every part I buy makes me more committed or should that be poor?
Here is one you should approve of........ Nicola's and my Wedding anniversary today. It was a great day, and the "wedding cake" was made of Haribo sweets and marshmallows. Forgot to mention, she completely surprised me by arriving in this truck...... Redneck bride indeed. Her Bouquet was Proteas as well, another surprise, the South African national flower. Took the Teardrop trailer on Honeymoon too. Stunning campgrounds at Bath. And now she is allowing me to build a truck....... ??? Gotta be good.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Chatham Dockyard with Medway Cruise again last night.
I am sadly seeing the demise of this awesome gathering, with it getting banned or moved as it is so oversubscribed and very badly managed in my non expert view....... It used to be a gathering that had up to 150 cars just gather, but last night there was just no rhyme nor reason for who could park where etc...... I prefer a totally mixed show, with no groups etc, but fail to understand what exactly the modus operandi is now. Also needs to root out idiots like the guy in the TVR doing a burnout in the car park. Still, it is always a great evening out, with an amazing mix of stuff, Harley's to Vespas and Lambrettas, Anglias to Mk1 Golfs and everything a rodder could dream of in between. I selectively took about 60 photos, and have reduced them to 10. German 2.6 Injected Capri. Flat out on air C10 This GMC is really hand crafted......... Built on a Winnebago chassis with Big Block motorvation and a drag car on the back, what's not to love. Being our wedding anniversary, what better treat for Nicola than a car show (after all, we spent our honeymoon 5 years ago at the Retro Rides Gathering too) Nicola showing Martin the love. Nice Ford. Evergreen Rover. Bought a week ago, he did not stop grinning. Load bed in metal flake with some candy skull artwork on the bedside. Spotless and for sale. It seems that trucks are really going up in popularity right now, let's hope the bubble does not break any time soon. Moggy. 105E Anglia, I had one years ago, loved it. Here's to another good one next month.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I managed to find another of these 2 ton pallet trucks at the yard for Ian Brown up north for silly money this week after he asked me to keep an eye out for one.
Amazingly, I have a 320 BMW sedan as work car, it cannot carry the pallet truck, yet, Nicola's Peugeot 107 was up to the task tonight when I went to collect it at the yard and bring it back. Funny how things go. Yesterday there were 8 of these 2 ton pallet trucks delivered as scrap to the yard, some of them work, and some needing minimal attention, one was brand new....... I never get that.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Well, a lovely day it has been.
Up early, loads of "Honey do's" around the house, then cut grass, cut some plants back, followed by clearing in front of the garage, and unpacking the caravan shed to get to some of my glass blasting media, which typically was stashed under the beds, under many parts. Moved the bike up to the house, pushed the truck up,the drive, and got the compressor started, connected to the blasting cabinet I bought last year, filled it with about 35kg of crushed glass, the. Got started with parts of the heater unit, mirror stalks, followed by various other bits. Inbetween I had a few problems, including the humidity causing the nozzle to clog up, the compressor feed pipe springing a small leak and the viewing window getting progressively more invisible. By the end I really could not see what I was doing. Any advice on how to retain visibility, that is not just the dust, but dulling of the plastic as well...... How do you keep visibility up to something sensible?? Ready to start. First piece, getting it ready for Ian Brown to Pinstripe over winter when he settles down. Also did these little guys from the tailgate while I was at it. All primered........... At this point one of the cans of red oxide primer stopped working halfway through and I will be wasting a half a can of red oxide....... Really gets to me. At this time, Mickey from next door came around to take a look. He seemed pretty happy with what I was doing and suggested I could carry on. So I carried on and eventually finished all the pieces. The heater parts are all Satin Black, and the rest, including the engine mounts and their nuts n bolts were made Gloss Black. Next job is to enlarge the bottom hole by about 4mm all the way round to fit the Mazda MX5 blower and controls to the heater unit. After packing everything away, I cleaned up, then took Nicola out for a wedding anniversary dinner in town. Tomorrow it is off to the Hotrod show, hopefully to meet up with some friends, buy some stuff, trade some stuff and generally have a good day in the sun. Hope to get really lucky and find a radiator too.

Just want to say I've been really enjoying your thread and the work you're doing. On my blast cabinet I use these clear film protective lenses that tape to the inside of your cabinet glass: http://www.tptools.com/Cabinet-Inner...rotectors.html When they get dull and scratched just pull them off and replace with another. Also, this vacuum system works well for me: http://www.thegaragegazette.com/index.php?topic=65.0 The dust trap really helps to prolong the life of the shop vac. Magnificent dinner, thank you, despite the pint/500ml beers being £5.00/$7.50

Looks like you had a great sandblasting session Rian. The parts came out looking great. I hear you on the rattle bombs giving up. I hate it when that happens on a brand new can. The quality of them has gone down hill in the last 10 years! I still own rattle cans from the early 90's that still work!
Interested in how you fit the Mazda parts.
