Those B81s are big bad mamma jammas. I wouldn't say $10k is a steal, though. Looks like the greed has come to the historic truck world. It's not like they are anything to go make a living out of and they don't exactly fit in a garage. Buying one is where the spending begins and the love of old trucks is where the value is.

It takes a lot of hard work and money to get to this point, and the owner will never get his money back even if it was a free truck

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Interesting truck, but I believe I'll pass.

It's got the right engine in it though.

Needs to be in a museum, but museums seem to be struggling lately.

Dodge should buy it for their own museum, but it looks like they already passed on that option.

Funny, with 23 pictures and none with the hood open. For $150g, that Detroit better be lickable. Hard sell for sure

No such thing as a Detroit that's lickable unless it never been started. In New England, we call em Road Oilers.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

As a car hauler. we knew where to unload at a dealership by looking for the oil spots on the ground. Most of our 6v92s had a factory "can" on the firewall that held a gallon of oil with a ball valve on it that led into the left side valve cover so we could add a gallon on the road. I got to drive 53's, 71's and 92's. They all ran smooth. They hardly vibrated the mirrors.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

wonder where they use it for , i have heared about some states that require less of a load per axle to keep their roads in better condition

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

those trucks need a lot of power not so mush axles , they whont have to load that heavy stuff on top of them they just need to pull it
might be photoshop , i think sumting like a cement truck or a mobile crane would have axles like that not a tow rig

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

I am no expert..... That blue rig looks like a set up to attach a very heavy equipment / flat bed. ( Not sure why the 4 front steer tires, but it looks like at least one front axle is..... 4WD ?

Or a real clean "Ice Road Trucker" mod. ??

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Maybe the blue truck was a crane at one time?

( But what the heck would they use it for, now? )

Maybe to be just different, and no concern for fuel mileage.....

I just stumbled onto the picture and found it interesting. It has a 5th wheel. I think it towed something pretty big and heavy, just not a big as those others.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

i blew up the pic and looks like the last rear axle is a tag axle and not a drive . the 1-2-3 tho are looking like drives with full float axle caps .

yes she was built as a BIG pig to work for sure .

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Couldn't not post this. With the 904 CI V12!!!! Too cool!

https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/...846555609.html

Yes V12 flathead 905 cubic inch!!!!!! 24 spark plugs. Motor not frozen, My father and a friends bought this truck over a decade ago and they wanted to build a blastolean type vehicle with this impressive looking power plant, but now there both old and it’s just become yard art. If you have dreams of owning a ladder truck or want to cut it into a million pieces either way is fine with us. Make offer. Send your number and I will call you and discuss this project with you.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

i suspect its a brand new truck delivered to the factory that does the build out and the 5th wheel is either a part of the standard equipment from the factory or they used it to tow more than one truck from the truck manufacturer to the coachworker
the trucks i found where mostly oil field trucks could be its meant for that

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

from wat i can see it wouldnt be that hard to turn it intoo a blastolene style hot rod , shortening the chassis / move the rear axle untill it allmost touches the current cab . keep the rear fenders and stretch the rear of the cab all the way to the back
