Anyone who does not know about DeVane Carburetor. Robbie builds carbs for some of the street outlaws on tv.

Are you keeping the tank/pump setup you had with EFI?

Yes I am. But replacing all the fuel line and fittings and inline filter. Ordered a Aeromotive fuel log bypass regulator combo kit.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

After all the hard work and $ and effort converting over to EFI I had to keep something lol. Now I like a intank pump better than a mechanical pump. Plus the way it is going to be setup will be perfect.
But I have a extra baffled tank and all that fuel line I used for the EFI setup.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Plus I had to buy me a new Innovative AFR gauge for some fine tuning. The AEM one I had took a dump on me. It will only be used for tuning. Sure as hell won't be mounted in the truck.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

My plan orginally was that I was going to mount the reg on the back side of carb. But that didn't work. Got all the old line out and filter. Put all new 8an line back in and new filter. 8 an line is fun to run and work with lol. Moving along real good and boom one of the fittings I ordered I guess I order the wrong one cause the fitting I needed well I didn't have. So I ordered the fitting I needed it will be here Monday. New spark plugs will be here today. Cause the FiTech ate a new set of plugs I put on when I got the FiTech. I am in a mad dash to get this running cause my tranny is setup for install next week. One of my hotrod buddies is doing it for me!! Thank God for that.

The Aeromotive fuel log is tha ****. I have not seen a fuel log that has a ball joint type fitting on it before. The part that runs into the carb back down to the log has a ball joint swivel joint thing lol. I honestly do not know what it is called. But man is it nice. I can position the log ever how I need it for clearance.

Never heard of WindRock before, just looked them up. Looks interesting, maybe I'll will take a skip down there for some fun. It's only 8 hours away so a nice long weekend is possible.
I've been to Pigeon Forge before and for about 5 years we use to rent cabins in the area for our vacations. Now we are looking farther south and west for our vacations. All this time I was in Pigeon Forge I had a place to drink beer and I never knew it

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Ray here.
This is not my thread.
This is not a Fitech thread.
But for the sake of info and making RG10 fell better I will post this.
I had a little problem with my EFI unit that was taken care of after a bit of time.
The new unit runs VERY well on my 408 motor.(12 in.vacuum)
Fast forward.....
Install on full mod. 408 mud truck.. High rev.. BIG cam..Low gears..Low intake vacuum.(6 in)

1. Will not idle.
2. Runs pig fat.
3. Adjusting any setting at this time makes NO difference .
Not giving up but not going to spent a lot of time with it....The old 950 carb is only a few feet away....

Ray..

Now Ray FiTech told me they have them on big cam low vacuum vehicles all over the country. And they even have them in house. Lmao. BS.

Don't waste your time Ray don't do what I did with that setup. Throw the carb back in or spend the money on a custom carb.

The DeVane Custom Carb I have now fires with turn of key no pumping pedal nothing. It was in the 30's yesterday truck sat all night all day came home turned key she fired right up!!! I got what I paid for with my DeVane Custom Carb!!

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Ray here.
The 950 works very well but when your jumping 10-15 feet in the air and landing hard.
Float bowls don't always do well with that.
Was (Still) hoping EFI would be the answer..

As we know sometimes the answer can become the problem.

Ray.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well if weather permits I am having my PTC transmission and convertor installed. I have decided against putting it in myself. Which makes me kinda nervous lol. I am a perfectionist. Taking it over to one of my hot rod buddies shops down in Severville TN.
