Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Took out what I did two weeks ago moving one side back so it was square.

Mostly I spent the Day asking myself, "why didn't I take the Cab off when I started?" If id done that I could have x'd out the whole frame in the beginning. Just because the front is square doesn't mean the rest is too.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I unexpectedly got a spot in the shop for a while. my dad and I got the cab off and I drilled out a few rivets. tomorrow i will get the last two runningboard hangers off and make the backing plates to weld some nuts to. that way i can bolt the hangers on. I also need to modify my trans crossmember so I can box the center section of the frame. Hopefully I can get some more odds and ends tied up while i have a nice floor to work on.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I didn't get as far as I thought i would most ly because I took the cab mounts off. the idea is it will save time and effort in the ling run by making it easier to clean up the parts.
I also fixed a bent spot in the frame where the running board mount bottomed out on something. oh well always something to do

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the old gas tank out & the (nasty) carpet removed from the cab. Also noticed that the previous owner, my girlfriend's brother, had been driving with only half of the seat bolts in. Apparently he liked the "recline" function this gave him...

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I got most of the welding done on my frame boxing.
What a long week The neighbors had som construction going and the excavator pulled a 120 section of our water pipe out! It took 3 days to get fixed and now we don't have much water pressure
There must be a rock in the line.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the front clip most of the way off. Left a few bolts to soak in penetrating oil for a while longer. Broke 2 or 3 of them - oh well. First time it's been off in, well, maybe ever.
Once the clip is off, maybe Monday (truck lives at work) I'll start paint prep for the front frame section and start sizing up the motor mounts.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Built a dolly for the cab last week. Today the cab comes off the frame, onto the dolly and I start finish welding the frame.
