Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Well, got the wheels in yesterday and low and behold they fit! Front has no issues. Just upset that the wheels I discussed with the wheel man said these would be just right for my sub. Nope, these require me to run my existing 2" rear spacers to make them flush and I will need to get a set of 1.25" spacers on the front to make them a little more flush. Now to save up for the other 2 and then tires. I hate being broke!

Krawler00 do you have the 1 1/4 rotors in front and they still fit?

Not sure to be honest. I did not measure them when I test fit the wheels. The truck is an '88 sub 6.2 diesel light duty.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
If they bolted up without grinding the nose, they're light duty (1.0"). Would be cool if you could measure just to confirm, but in 1200+ posts no one has ever gotten them to bolt up to unaltered 1.25" rotors.

I will try to get a few pics and measure them this week. Got a ton going on but will try to make it a point to do this.

I just ordered a set of 18's and they should be in this week. I'll post pics and update as well. (I'm on 1971 Chevy SB)

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Without reading 50 pages in this thread can someone tell me if these are gonna ever be offered or maybe already are offered in a 22" in a 5 on 5 pattern with the right BS for our trucks?
I bought a truck last week and it has these on it in 20" (and I love it) but I kinda want a staggered look so thought about getting 22's for the rear and maybe get them widened out to 12" or something custom. Thoughts? |

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Big Block,
I'm running 245/45/18's on the front and 275/30/20's on the back...I hate the look. I'm going to move the 245/45/18's to my daughters RX8 and hopefully get Discount tire to help me out with the rears. I want more sidewall. I could live with the 245's but the 275's are the biggest I can go with the Nitto's I purchased. So, I'm going to have to change tire type. Here's a thread with an example. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=538050 Looking to go with 255/40/18's and 295/40/20's Toyo's. So, If any one needs a pair of Nitto 275/30/20's with about 40 miles on them let me know.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I have the 18x8" fronts with 255/55/18 and 20x10" rears with 295/45/20 Nexen tires. The sidewall front and rear are the same and the rears are wider and bigger overall diameter so everything is cool except the front tires have more bulge in the sidewall than the rears and it bugs me. Looking at maybe245/45/18 front tires to fix this. (I'll have near new tires for sale)
Finding the right wheel tire combo has been a pain. |

OK, when you guys say "dent the dustcap", what do you mean? the new style dust cap fits inside the rotor, and the dust cap is definately too wide for this, just slighly, 1/16 of an inch, a couple mm?

Don't know about a new style dust cap, but mine were original and definitely neeted "Clearanceing", meaning I beat them into submission.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I used a 1/4 wheel spacer and special acorn lug nuts (extra tread bite) and everything bolted right up. I even used them in the rear to push the rim out fill the fender well a little more.

What style dust cap do you have, does it fit snug against the inside of the wheel, or does it attach to the inside of the rotor hub? I'll post a picture of mine tonight.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Most dust caps have a little flange that fits up against the rotor. That kieeps the cap from going to deep into the rotor and rubbing against the spindle. I took the dust cap for my son's truck and put them upside down on a flat stell surface and put a socket into the cap and flattened the rounded curve on them. I made them fit closer to the spindle and still cloear the end, so that they could rotate and not rub a hole in the cap. I also took the chrome pastic cap for the boss wheels and groud a little off of the tabs that fit intl the wheel, so that there was clearance between the plastic cap fabs and the edge of the dust cap and rotor end. You want to leave the hooked edge of the tab, so that it clips onto the wheel.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
FWIW, the new revision (-3AA) uses different center caps held in place with o-rings rather than the old ones with tabs.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Is anyone running the CPP 13" Big Brake Kit and the Boss 338's?
I got my wheels in the group buy so I think they are the -3's if I remember right. I'm thinking about getting the kit but am concerned about how the hub clearance would be with the CPP aluminum hub and slip on rotor. I don't mind turning down the edge of the hub if needed as long as that is all it may need. Thanks,
