Very well done. So what did you glue the I'm assuming vinyl down with? I like the magnet idea. You must have thousands of hours in this thing!

Thank You Henry!
The Vinyl is glued with Weldwood Landau top cement, holds way better than regular contact cement.
As far as the HRS.....I have no clue where its at

Thanks Robert!

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Here a 2 shots of the basic chassis and stand.
I'm using 2 1/2" square tube 3/16th wall ( wanted 1/4) but they didn't have it available.
These grinders need to be heavy duty to help with vibration.
The tooling arms that will slide inside the chassis will be 2" and 1/4" wall.

The tube at the top will be the tensioner assembly and it will have a lock on it to hold it down to remove belt easily.
The stand will have adjustable feet with rubber to level it.
It will also have wheels on the rear to make it easier to move around the shop

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Greg, The platen assembly can be removed and then use the other attachment to do different radius. I wont do that right away, but maybe down the road.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Just getting caught up on this. For the kick panels, what type of base material are they made from and how thick is it? Also, how did you stick the magnets to them? Thanks, and of course, excellent work!!!

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

The kick panels are made from 2 layers of the plastic sheets, glued together.
The magnets get sanded with 36 grit and then epoxy is used to glue them in place on the interior panel of the truck.
Then a 2nd magnet is glued to the plastic panel so they attract to one another. The panel is only 1/4" thick.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Here are the polyurethane wheels I'll be using, 4" with bearing's.
I made some plates to mount the wheels to the stand.

The last pic is of the tracking wheel adjuster.
Works on a pivot using the knob.

That is a good looking sander. You should post the plans you used to build it. Very nice.

Russ, Thank You.
the belt will move no matter what RPM, that is solved by the tracking knob on the upper wheel.
