Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

Here's an update on Earl. New 15x8 rallyes, 255/70R15 radials, Bilsteins, and sway bars. After the 1800 mile drive from Hobbs, NM to central PA I'll cut a front coil and add a 2" block out back and call the suspension 'temporarily' done. Then some engine and driveline upgrades, fix the rust, and paint. Gotta decide on satin black/white, or medium olive/white (original). Hmmm...

1969 suburban man

How did you do your third row seats? I need to add a third row and get my burb running. Cramming into a exra cab truck with 4 kids is no fun.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

I took my stock third row on the suburban and flipped it around backwards so I had more cargo room. The kids just climb in from the tailgate and ride backwards. They seem to like it.

CumminprwII --My third seat is out of a early 90's Burb and mounts in the factory floor clips. The second row has a split 70/40 seat that folds forward to get to the third seat. Real nice clean setup to install the seat.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

Nice 1969 Suburban man.

Very clean. did you mount the third row into the wood or did you cut out the back area of a 90's suburban? I have the same set up in mine but 80's seats front buckets and middle bench. I just want to make sure how ever I mount a third row it will be safe for my kids.

I been thinking about getting new middle bench and 3rd row. I just not sure about mounting yet.

Thanks for the pictures and the help

Chris

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

Chris, I did not install the seats, they were in the car when I purchased it so I can not say for sure if they are mounted in wood or the metal section.

I will say this, the guy I got the car from was very safety minded as he would not let his grandkids ride in the car until he had all the seat belts installed and working properly. I have a bad back so I can not look under the car, but the factory clips are very solid and if not in metal I am sure they are backed up with metal from the bottom. When the seat is in place it is very secure and seat has no play. He put a lot of work and time in making it right.

Good luck with your's, Tom

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

Stopped by "Little shop of horrors" today in Lawrenceburg, Tn and seen if Eric had anything new in the shop. He does some really nice work and his fab skills are off the charts. He said this sub was getting ready to go home to its owner. I seen this thing under construction a couple times. Dope!!

They're not a complicated piece. Easily made from thin sheet plastic or various other materials. Mine is homemade and covered with material. Uses upholstery clips, and a few screws to hold it up in place.
Start with construction paper or cardboard and make templates by taping it to the bows and cutting it to size. Once you've got patterns you can chose your material for the backer, and covering, and copy the patterns.
Then drill holes through the backer and mount it with screws to the bows. After that, pull it down and use upholstery clips to fit the holes and push them through the backer before gluing the material on. Then just snap it in place, and if needed add a few strategic screws if the backer doesn't conform well enough to hold.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Burbans!

This is my 71 burb,Originally came from Great Falls montana. The previous owner brought it to canada from the states but it sat for about nine years before i bought it this past summer. When i pulled out onto the road for a test drive and the factory installed underdash air conditioning still worked,it was sold!I put 2 1/2" drop spindles on the front, bagged the rear about 2 days after i got it home, and 18" rims i had kickin around. Then 2 days of buffing later, that original paint came back gleaming!
