Kevin, thanks for posting the pics on the short box chop,did my box yesterday and this morning, frame hopefully Friday before I leave for my 10 day shift. Zero problems with the body lines lining up,spot on with your measurements! And to think I was going to trade my truck because I was bored with it! lol Now I'm thinking of a straight front axle and adding the 8" of cut out box to the front fenders for the "gasser" look. lol, Sean

Ok maybe this has been addressed but I cannot seem to find an answer. When shortening the bed it was stated to take 8 inches from the rear and 20 from the front correct? I just saw an article stating 6 inches from the rear and 20 from the front. So I got confused and then went to LMC's catalog and noticed the swb side is 82 inches and the lwb is 100. Why did he take the additional 2 inches? Am i missing something?

i nkow porterbuild made his dropmembers a little different then the original to get the wheels centered in the arches maibe it has sumtin to do with that

yeah but the drop member only effects the front. I have one on my frame but that wouldnt change the rear at all.

You will want to cut the front section so it includes one of the bed mount braces since their is an extra one on LWBs. I plan on doing mine with out pulling the bed apart because it will make for a faster and easier job and it will be getting line-X'd when done.

This looks like the bed was only shortened 20 inches total.

This truck doesn't have dropmembers on it. That was is 4 door tahoe that had one on the front!

it was a stock drop member for my Tahoe build. All Nate's DM's center the wheels.

100% correct, I think my pics may have been marked incorrect in the build. The front cuts in the bed that I made were to get rid of the gas doors I had in the bed. Exactly were you take out the 8" is not real important as long as you can get to both sides of the metal for adjustment and fitment before and after welding.

I'm not a stalker, it's just a small town! And I'm one of many guys on this board who is very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of your work! Here is a post that I came accross awhile ago and it is a great how-to on shortening the frame. I will be doing mine just like this but not for a month or so. Like I said I will be using this thread for my frame cut so I though I would link to it and not try and reinvent the wheel.
