Re: Project two tone.

Well the 100+ temps in the evenings as well as the 10 hour work days have not kept me motivated to be out there. haha But with the aid of a new shop fan I spent a rather nice hour this evening wire wheeling the bottom of the hood.
Back track....
Spent about 1 hour every evening last week wire wheeling the top of the hood. Good 6 hours worth in total. Dang that's some tough old paint! But the wire wheel takes it down to metal pretty darn fast. Grill support has been blasted and just needs some minor work. Also working on the outer fenders as well. Progress is slow but decently steady. Hoping to have the under side of the hood finished by this weekend and in both epoxy and filler primer. Painting the front end will most likely be some time in August.

Re: Project two tone.

More progress today, did some body work on the hood and grill support. Grill support is epoxy and urethane primed in and ready for sanding. Got the fenders in some rust encapsulator where I couldn't quite wire wheel as well. Same with the hood.

I see you've got a lot of work done since I've been away. Great work, and you have gathered some nice parts together. I'm watching your progress. It gives this old man some motivation.

Re: Project two tone.

Thanks buddy! Well I got more work done yesterday.....grill support is done minus some cutting and buffing.
4 coats of base coats and 6 coats of clear so there is plenty on there. If the smoke clears enough for some sunshine I'll get some better pictures later. Gonna let it hang for awhile longer before moving it.

Re: Project two tone.

Little more done today, rad support is done and just needs some cutting and buffing. Rad baffles are primed it...trying to figure out if I'm gonna stick with black or do sliver or blue on those. Almost done with the passenger fender.

Re: Project two tone.

Well this project is gonna be on hold for awhile folks. Relocating up about 6 hours North to start a new job with union pacific railroad. Been a life long dream and it's finally come true. Truck will be on hold for awhile but hopefully not to long. I'd like to squeeze painting the hood up this year and then calling it until next while stocking up on parts. Project is taking longer than hoped for but life goes on and when it's done it'll be worth it.

I'll actually still be in Oregon at exit 308. So pretty darn close to the boarder. haha I'll be a mech service operator for a couple years. Retirement still rocks with the railroad and that's one large reason I've been wanting to get in. Being able to retire at 50 sounds good to me.

Thanks man! Hopefully progress won't be shortened to much, but with grave yard shifts as a norm things will be slow for awhile.

Re: Project two tone.

Been 3 weeks into the new job/life and I'm liking it thus far. Missing the trucks everyday, but I'm gonna get the 64 up here pretty soon. Just thought I'd update you all. Still alive and doing well. Railroad is pretty cool and plenty of work to be done. I'm excited for what the future holds. Until next time.
