Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got the new BAJA SS seats today. They are smaller than what I was running before, but I think they will work out perfect. Here's some pic's.Name: 100_1297.jpg

Those look like they'd hug you nice and tight. Now get em in the K5!

I am at a cross in the road. I have every available replacement panel for this K5. Rocker boxes, floor, etc. I cannot find anyone near me that has done a 1st Gen. If I could find anyone in Northern Michigan willing to take on this project, I would be able to trailer it there--now. Can send pic's if you are interested in helping me!

Is there anyone who works on any classics nearby?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Still can't find a body man to take on my project. I mocked up my baja ss seats today. Not real happy with them, may have to go a different way. I know they will mount to the cage tubes, but really don't want them up that high. Looking for some seats with a higher base print. I can use these baja's in the back no problem. Any ideas guys?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Well, got it worked out in my head. These corbeau baja ss seats are cool, but when I mocked them up in my K5-Just too small.Going to redo my 1974 chevy laguna swivel seats that will fit perfect. Just need to have the laguna seats recovered with black vinyl.Already painted the base mounts black, ordered up some bedliner spray paint to finish the seat mounts, to hide the imperfections in the plastic covers. That will give me adjust-ability for the seats, and I can use the baja ss seats in the rear. All will mount to the roll cage, that is going in. Just have to find some one close to redo the seats!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

I am at my wits end here.I am at the point of losing hope. I just want to drive this K5 again, and I do not have the welding skills to do it up right. Need to replace the body mounts and bushings-which I already have. Have almost all the replacement metal panels from WES. If I could just find someone somewhat near me in Mi., that has done this type of resto before I would be ready. Brand new parts ready to go, just running out of time to get this going again.Any help here guy's? These are not all the parts I have ready to go.Name: 100_0080.jpg

Man this really bums me out to hear you're losing hope! Can you try to learn and improve your welds? a lot of this stuff is low amp tack welds. Otherwise...maybe check craigslist for a journeyman welder/bodyman?

I wish I could offer you more help!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Don’t lose hope. If you have a welder just jump in. It may not look profesional but if it gets it back together and drivable, that is the goal. Some of these guys have serious skills and I will never be on that level, but I did get mine back together and I had zero previous skill on body work and zero help except this forum.
