Re: 58 GMC Project

Love the truck more every time I see it. When I get discouraged about something on mine this is one of the trucks that gets me fired up and back out in the garage.

I like the way your roll pan hangs below the rear fenders. It hides a rear tank better that way. Seems like the MAR K pans are too shallow. Where did yours come from? Thanks...Mike

I got my roll pan from LMC. It took some fab work to get ot to fit.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Better late then never so I'm going to post a few pictures from last June at the Dinuba Main Street car show. My son just sent me the pictures this last weekend.

The show had about 175 entries with the normal classes you would see at a larger show. I went with a few friends and it was getting time to hand out the awards when my friend said there was a guy from the show looking for me, that I had won an award. I thought, cool, I must have won my class. So I hook up with the guy and he tells me to pull my truck up to the main intersection so they can start handing out the awards, so I do. Now I'm sitting in my truck waiting and think to myself, were are all of the other cars? Why is no one else here? So I ask the guy out my window, hey, were is everyone else? He said to me "what do you mean, everyone else?" I look back at him with a puzzled look on my face, he said "this is for the best of show". What? Best of Show? Wow!! Anyway here are the pictures. The first two are of me being clueless, waiting in my truck.

Yes, I was surprised. There were some super sweet high dollar hot rods there one of them is my friends 37 Ford. Here's a pix of his car. The second pix is of a another 37 Ford that was at the show both cars are bagged and when they are laying on the ground they look like they are vacuuming the grass, so you can see how I would be surprised. Thanks for the congrats everyone!

Re: 58 GMC Project

Congratulations on the show win and the article... You have a very sweet ride and it is well deserved. I'm kind of partial to the 67-72 crowd but your truck has to be one of my favorites.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Cal
I just killed about two hours skimming through your build. My son and I saw your truck at the Brothers show and of course it took up more space on the digital camera (other than the Napcos!!!) than anything else. I knew your truck looked familiar but wasn’t quite sure until later when I realized it made it into the magazines... Very very cool...
I didn't see any pics from the Brother's event (maybe I missed them) but here's a couple.

Also Brother's Trucks has a write up on how to install the weatherstripping.

http://www.brotherstrucks.com/techar...20INSTALLATION

They say: "The replacement seals can be installed on the door two different ways/directions. Only one way is correct and will create a proper seal against the cab. The other way may “look” correct but will not properly seal against the cab, leaving room for air and other elements to leak. The CORRECT installation will have the large lip of the seal facing inwards towards the cab."
