Re: A '54 named Busty
I like to use the proper frying grease where appropriate if you get my meaning, so I use white lightning to improve the slideage of things (ie bushing sleeve inserts) and I use anti seize to prevent stickage and bondage (think the un threaded rod ends)

Re: A '54 named Busty
it's very common for these poorly designed factory upper control arms to get all pretzeled in, needing some gentle persuasion to expand back to proper form
a bottle jack I swore to throw out half a dozen times while tripping over it on my garage floor comes in most handy for such an expenditure Last edited by Gregski; 08-15-2020 at 02:18 PM. |

Re: A '54 named Busty
Excellent job on the bushings. The first time I used one of those AutoZone rented bushing presses, I put an impact gun on it. It smashed the bushings into the A-arms so hard that it split them. The money I had to pay for new control arms taught me that I should have just used a wrench...
BTW, "Made In USA" could mean Usa, Japan, a city in the southern part of Japan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usa,_%C5%8Cita .

Re: A '54 named Busty
You go Gregski! That was a lot of running around to get the bushings done, but well worth it.
