Split Rims
They're called "Widow Makers" with very good reason ~ you needn't have any rust on them to have them fail explosively .
There's no way to know when / if they're going to fail and many have died from both the ring cutting their heads off to trucks rolling over at speed when they fail . Many smoke PCP for years and think it's safe, others are smarter .

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
The two piece rim in the center is a widow maker. Mine are the one to the right of it

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
Stock steel wheels and bias plies when I got it. Switched to corvette rallys. 15x8's on front and 15x10's in the rear. 235/60r15's on front and 255/60r15's on the rear Cooper Cobra GT Tires.
My bad guys, posted under the wrong year thread... Got excited to show off my steel wheels and wasn't paying attention. Can I delete my post? |

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
Recently changed over from Rally wheels. In search of proper hubcaps, I think I've tracked down the correct rear caps, now have to find the "open" front caps.

Still running on factory wheels and hubcaps. Couldn't see myself dumping them.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!
Nice! Thanks for the link. I'm on board.
I re-arched the OEM springs on the K20. What a waste of time/money. The ride quality was substantially improved with new springs. I also replaced the plastic liners/anti-squeak spring pack pads with the new springs. One of the major truck vendors sells small asphalt pads for use between the bed to frame mounts. I used those at the time of the build. Maybe it quiets the ride a little bit. Maybe not. These didn't alter the body lines at least.

Leaf Springs
' re - arching ' leaf springs is an old time scam ~ they ride higher again for a short while then poop out again, money wasted .
The teflon spring sheets really work wonders at making the rig ride smoother while still retaining the height and load capacity . Beware cheapo springs ! . Diamond or Eaton are both very good and there used to be plenty of other American spring manufactures .
