How about some more info on that parking brake lever install? Is that stand-off you fabricated necessary for mechanical reasons too or just to make the boot fit right, as you mentioned? Maybe a Lokar part number for it?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

That's a pretty fender! Dan, I've grumped about Lokar boot fit before but my limited ability has yet to figure out how to mount that brake(I've used 2) in a way that the mounting bolts or nuts don't interfere with what I consider proper mounting of the boot trim ring. I made the valence or standoff in order to have the trim ring screw down flat with 10-24 nutserts(I hate sheet metal screws) and lay flat with the carpet and still be able to remove the brake assembly if needed. Had to do the same thing with the floor mounted shifter. Maybe I'm just too picky but if they made those boot/ trim rings an inch wider on both, the problem would be solved, IMO. I got the angle I wanted by mounting the front of the brake down to the floor and the rear up through the bottom of the floor. Then I had to fabricate a new link for the cables out of 1x3 tubing since the Lokar link isn't wide enough to clear the bolt the mounting ears attach with. A simple redesign would make that brake infinitely more versitile. Close up pics if you want or need.

Resumed work on the gas fill tube. After weeks of trying to find an easy fix, got out the hack saw, hole saw and welder. Hour later think I have a workable solution.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the alternator bracket & alternator installed. Bolted up the tensioner to the block. Discovered that I don't have the necessary bolts to mount the PS pump, A, and B that it's going to take another $50 + bolts to finish mounting accessories to the Vortec.
Next go-round, I'm buying a complete engine. Nickeled and Dimed by Ebay...

haha thanks Fisher !.. My wife has actually taken the truck to buy groceries a few times. I keep asking her to take pics in the parking lot but she just rolls her eyes .lol...

Man i know what you're fingers are feeling. I volunteered to help a buddy with his seats and it wasn't easy. We were so tired by the end of it that we didn't even drink the 6 pack we bought to celebrate.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Alternator bracket just arrived. Packing up for the commute on Friday. Finishing the fuel lines, installing the new bushings, and situating the clutch/brakes are the goals. Maybe stay in Saturday and work on the seats.

It was definately exciting driving down the highway and getting thumbsup. This is my first long distance haul with my truck. She did great. I thought the 600lb bike would take a toll on my rear suspension but it held up real well. The bike is a 1400cc Intruder. Motor was rebuilt a few months ago. The previous owner ran into a financial bind and had to part with it. I plan on laying a custom paint job on the tank and reworking the rear fender. Other than that she's ready to enjoy.

I know you are flipping the truck but I would rethink the fuel filter. Engine compartment does look nice.
