Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Like I said on my thread , I took mine of the road a year ago . The rate it's going my estimate of two years is looking opptermistic . But who's counting I think the trouble is we all get distracted by other projects . Like me Don just keep going and when it's done it's done

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
One suggestion. If I had my motor perches out of the truck ever again, I would take a step drill and bore the center hole(s) to the next bigger size. I would use a big heavy washer during installation against the bolt head for reinforcement. Having that hole just a tad bigger would make installing the rubber mounts 1000% easier. I've struggled every time I've had to detach or reconnect the rubber mounts and having that extra bit of maneuvering room for the bolt would make the job much easier.

I will do just that because when I first mounted the engine, I was working alone and even though I only stated the first bolt by hand (leaving it severely loose), I still ended up fighting with the other bolt...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Not much to update, Honey-Do's have kept truck time to a serious minimum...
The only accomplishment this weekend was to finally pull the trigger on a wheel trade… A friend of mine wanted the 15's I had, and I needed 18's or bigger in order for the rear wheels to hit in case of a flat vs the u-bolts. The kicker to the deal is that if my friend decides on a different direction for his 94 truck, I get my wheels back and keep the 20's... I posted pics of these a year or so ago but here's a couple of shots of the wheels on my roller... IMG_2720 by ta2don, on Flickr IMG_2722 by ta2don, on Flickr

you gotta love mark. that tip on expanding the hole on the mount. i've struggled with stabbing those bolts, don't know how many times. sometimes the simplest stuff can be the best idea. thanks mark...
like the wheels and even with all the honey-dos you're making good progress. stay the course my friend... |

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
If possible I hope you can get down this way Saturday May 9th… will text you about our Studio's 20th Anniv shindig... Quote:
So, in the midst of remodeling our bedroom, read paint and flooring, I plan on getting the motor perches installed this coming weekend and dropping the Engine and Trans in so I can prepare for any Trans mount mods that may be required for the NV3500 5 Speed... On top of that, May marks 20 years my Tattoo Studio has been open here in Searcy… Saturday May 9th we are hosting an impromptu Truck, Car, Hot Rod & Bike Cruise-In… Thanks Man!
