Since my 98 Silverado is torn apart in the backyard , the 63 had to be put into service ... Time to get serious and get both of them up to snuff ..

Installed my rebuilt 4-speed, and hydraulic clutch lines and cylinder in my 61 C-10. Next, bleed clutch and see if I did it right!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I upgraded the shift knob on my B&M ratchet shifter...This was from a walking stick I've had for years that is no longer made, a resin skull with actual silver overlay so it has an amazing look and feel...well, as long as you like skulls.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I upgraded my headlight circuit to full 12GA Wires, 12GA Relays, Circuit Breakers (H/L) and Ceramic Connectors to put more power to the lights and off the switch. Currently running Phillips Halogen Sealed Beams. The difference was AMAZING this morning on the way into work! So much more light than I had previously. I read that you lose up to 30% light output with factory wiring, it sure looked like a lot more than that to me when it was all done.
Next up, Cibie 82440 glass with HELLA H4 100/80W High Wattage Bulbs. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
When I was rebuilding my engine. I found a dist that I didn't know where it came from. It looked new so I dropped it in points and all. The truck started running a bit jerky and I figured it was an ignition problem.
I was up in Reno last week so I strolled into The Summit Racing Store and picked up a new Petronix Dist. I installed it and re gaped the plugs to .040. One was actually at .050, no wonder why the points couldn't keep up. I must say the difference is night and day with the new dist in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Upgraded alternator after mine failed on me last week. Went with a Delco Internally Regulated model so deleted the external regulator and adjusted wiring, and upsized the lead wire run from battery to alt to 10GA. Much better now!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I'm going to shampoo the seat I found that Pick-n-Pull for 60 bucks. I do have a seat cover for it just want to clean it up a bit before I put it in my truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I finally got around to putting my cheap seat cover on the seat and putting it in my truck. Also, put in an original set of seat belts. They are out of a 66 but its ok. I believe the date was 1/20/66.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Does it feel like you are sitting higher in those seats than in the original? I have the same ones and it feels like I am higher up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
This week I was cutting bed wood and installing it into my truck. First picture is of pretty much it's done except for the paint but I still have to cut a hole for the gas tank and maybe install the door that's sitting on top. I might run a hose to the side and do a side fill instead I don't know yet. I have until I'm empty on fuel to make up my mind haha. Second picture I believe was how I recessed the bolts. I use a tape measure to drill the holes worked pretty well except for the one that I hit and in short oops. Third picture is how you hold the bolts down when you don't have extra hands on top. I bought this wood about 3 or 4 years ago at home Depot for like a hundred bucks. Cut it myself the table saw. It was definitely a lot of work. I'll try and post a pic after I get it painted which it will be factory like black. The fourth picture is how I drove around for the past 8 years. Can't believe the plywood lasted that long.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Installed the glue on type weatherstrip on both doors. Holy crap, waaaay more work than I thought it would be. 50 pack of clothespins, scrapers, alchohol cleaner, sand paper. Now dry for 24 hours, doors open.
Came out pretty nice, though. The old ones were original and crispy.
