More floor and I did gusset under the engine mount for additional strength. The crossmember notch weld is still on the to do list.

Strapped the fuel tank in to begin running the fuel fill. The 90 degree elbow was just too tall even cutting it down as far as possible. I didn't want to trim any additional as there would be little for the hose clamp to clamp too.

I asked dwcsr...Dave Hollister Road Company...if a rubber 90 degree would work here. Yes was his quick email response...thanks Dave...and my local NAPA could have it next day.
Here you can see how much I trimmed the steel 90 down. I didn't start trimming on the hose yet....hopefully it will work out. If not, I am thinking I will fab a 90 degree in the size needed to fit. |

So I put that fuel fill on pause a bit as I wanted to install the Camaro pan on the engine, then get the powertrain installed in frame again for figuring out the steering.
Yeah, I forgot the Camaro pan was used and I hadn't cleaned it up yet. |

Found a little surface rust in one of the cylinders. It should clean up pretty easy and hopefully I can get back on it Sunday afternoon.
Hey Mongo, yes that is fuel fill hose and was a bit spendy. A good peanut gallery is always fun...though we don't get many visitors out here. Hope to pick my progress up a bunch this winter! Marc is going to pull way ahead of me in our Burb building competition and I need to get back in the swing of things... |

The floors look good. I got back out myself and worked on welding in some floor structure myself.. I having the welder is great. I should have bought one years ago... Marc

 But I see the chairs are empty, that means you were working on cars?  Just joking Floors look good!! I'm sure you'll get the fuelfiller just the way you want it!! Is that motor a 350 sbc or a LS? Missed that I think....

Thanks Kees, that is a 5.3 LS from a 2004 Chevy truck. The truck oil pan hangs below the front crossmember and the Camaro pan isn't as deep, staying about even with the crossmember.

Yeah Mark, I believe the next time I need a complete rear I will give them the business. Reasonable prices and quality parts for sure.
I don't know Lowers...I need a bunch of updates like this. Winter with no yard work will help....I hope. 99, that spot is right under the radiant heater and is very cozy...zzzz... I was able to pull myself away from the peanuts and cozy spot long enough to throw the now clean Camaro pan on the engine. There is still more work to be done in prepping this engine for paint. Any slick ideas for removing the last of the engines dirt and corrosion? I plan to continue with Dremel, wire wheels, die grinder with rotary brush, simple green cleaner....lotta elbow grease. |
